Freestyle Bob Gen 2 flat water freestyle...

Hey I'm getting into flat water freestyle and I think I'm going to have the ski clinic build me a new bob gen 2 with a 701 or 760 and a stock pump. The only reason I hesitate is becasue I never rode a freestyle ski before and I don't know if that size engine is enough power. I just don't want to make a purchase and be disappointed with performance. Currently, I ride a stock 2007 SXR-800. How would this Bob 701 or 760 compare to my SXR?

Thanks

It's a big change from an sxr, I would almost ride a superjet for a season first. Most of my buddy's with sxr could barely ride my superjet, let alone a freestyle hull

thats some great advice guy's ! i think the gen 2 is a great hull ,and love mine ! it gets even better the harder you ride it ,but i do believe it being a short freestyle hull it is better suited for the more advanced style rider that is ready for the challenge of a freestyle hull (don't let price fool you) also i would say a lot of choosing a hull that fits is personal preference ,skill level needs and also what your riding style needs are. i will put it to you like this: it will only make your current bag of flatwater freestyle tricks(that are possible on a short hull) better ie: barrel rolls, stabs ,flips, under flips,180's,360 's ,flares ect..but just because the hull is capable does not mean you don't need the skill or need to be riding at a high enough caliber to do what you are after ,you could also easily get hurt ... in my opinion this hull is great bang for the buck .as far as a comparison to you sxr . your sxr will feel like it was a "sherman tank" in comparison to the bob in the water ,at whatever lay up you go with ...hope it helps

I really appreciate all of your guys input. As far as my riding style, I ride my SXR as hard as that ski can go, and I want to do so much more, but I know I cant with that ski. That's why I plan on upgrading. But at the same time, I don't want to jump in with both feet and and be disappointed. Thanks again for the advice.

why not put your sxr motor in the bob hull?....im 99% sure they make hulls set up for kawi mounts. I put my stock driveline from my sxr in an eme q8 and absolutely love it. Huge gain in power and more reliable. Roo on here has flatwater barrel rolled it numerous times. Most of all its a ton of fun to ride. I strongly suggest going the lw hull route as opposed to going to a superjet.

just my .02

Yeah I think if I'm am going to spend a decent amount of cash I would like to go straight to a lw hull and just get better on it the more I play with it. The only reason I don't want to use my SXR is becasue I have family that enjoys just going out to ride around and its a great ski for that purpose.

We've got tons of different RTR units sitting in our shop, 701cc-1000cc, give us a call and schedule a test ride to see what you think of them first hand!

I'm waiting on a new engine to be built after blowing my ss865. In the mean time I'm dropping a stock 701 in my fiberglass bob to show people what it can do(if I can ever get this 701 to run right). Only mods to it are v-force 2 reeds and a mag pump. Hopefully in a week or so I'll have a video

im in the same boat man i started on a fx1 tho and now a superjet ive been really looking into the bobs i dont wanna buy unless i no i like something im sure everyone would say that my problem is i have know around my area that i no of that has a bob that i could test.

Rode one a couple weeks ago and oh man let me tell ya i want one soooo bad now!! It had a stock 800 engine with only a b pipe and stock pump. They're way different than riding a barge/sxr. I say go for it and get one!! Im gonna get one next summer for sure!

I cant wait for you to get your new motor!!! I think you will be amazed at what will be in your ski once you drop it in! They are definitely awesome compared to what else I have ridden:)
