Other bob snapped drive shaft

like the title says snapped the driveshaft on my bob it happened when my steering cable broke and i was riding in compensating for the steering cable. is this because of the broken steering cable? could it be pump shimming? and last where the best place for a new one and do they make a stronger aftermarket one?

interesting. did it like snap in half? towards the pump or up towards the midshaft. I'm curious how the bob contributed to the break.

I'm running a jetmainiac driveshaft with no issues for over a year now.

Did you make sure that the drive shaft wasn't binding against the mid shaft when assembling the ski? Pump shimming is super critical as it could cause some drive train damage.

We've also seen quite a few Aftermarket drive shafts and a few OEM drive shafts in a variety of hulls snap 'just because', you might be in that category if everything is set up and shimmed right.

ya i i mocked the pump got it in the middle of the whole before putting the midhshaft housing in then installed the midshaft housing and then tightened up the pump

Alignment is critical, but the tapered shafts tend to break right in front of the impeller where they are 'fusion?' welded.

Also driveshafts that are out of true because of shipping/handling are more likely to break.

did you shim the pump so that it stays centered in the bulk head? you cant just get it in the middle, slap on the mid shaft and then tighten down the pump.
