Other Body beach closed for pro weekend at WF?

This race needs to be moved to Mission Bay in San Diego or right in PB in San Diego in the Ocean. Not sure why it hasn't yet. It would be HUGE there. You could have Freeride World Finals at the same time....it would be giant.

I'd go if it was in the surf.

I believe they considered moving it to Mission Bay before and the City and Tree Huggers completely killed it. I think one of the main reasons they've kept it at Lake Havasu is because Havasu has welcomed us with open arms. It would be kind of a slap in the face to Havasu to move it, especially after they have supported us for so long. Now Surf races anywhere would definately improve the race scene from a spectators point of view, they are so much more entertaining to watch. Surf races should be "in addition to" WF though. A big problem with surf races is that a lot of racers dislike the surf and won't show up, at least that was a big part of the problem back when they had the surf series here in Oceanside 10 yrs ago. No racers=No spectators, so the city won't issue a special event permit to shut down a section of beach for an event with low turnout.

Where did the info about Body Beach closing come from? I didn't read anything about it in the article.

Body Beach is closed on Wednesday or Thursday. Here it is, just a week ahead, and we are still hearing conflicting stories of when Body Beach will be closed to accommodate a boat drag racing event. Most of the reports say it will be closed on Thursday, October 11. It is a royal bummer that it is closing, at all, but there really isn’t anything anyone in the watercraft family can do about it, So, lets just be sure to show how compliant we can all be and what good stewards of the lake that we are and lets just play the cards we are dealt. We are guests in Lake Havasu City and we want to be good guests by following the rules so we can be invited back.

Was out there this morning... I had heard that they were launching all the drag boats from there and are using it for the starting line area. Sure enough, they're out right now grading the road into body beach to bring all the boats in for the Lucas oil drags.

Its unfortunate that it'll be closed. Sounds like we'll be getting a smoother road it after they are done though. Glass half full.....

So let me ask you guys if body beach is out this year ,is crazy beach where people will be practicing .not sure if thats the spot out off the point at crazy horse by the launch area ? from what i remember it was shallow for along way out ?
