After finally getting exhaust and manifold off, go to take starter off and snap. Now what?
Ya you’re right I didn’t think about that I can just get a nut on other side worse caseDrill out the bolt snapped off bolt. If you can’t save the threads just use a nut and bolt. Had to do that a few times.
@Mike W do you usually pull the motor to drill out the holes? 2nd one snapped too and I can’t find a way to get the drill in the and drill out the holes straight
On the top boot there’s. Little piece. I tried torching thing the bracket and twisting it off with channel locks but didn’t workIs there any portion stikking out ,I would try soaking with wd 40 or similar to free it up then a bit of heat on case as I was drilling with a left hand drill.might spin out on u. I use the left hand drills at work for broken bolts and works well. Your case the bolt is obviously siezed in there fasilitating the need for some heat and corrosion inhibitor to free it up
The key is to use a center drill and make sure u drill on center. Start with smailler drill and work ur way up . If you do have to drill out completely much better if u r on center to start..
@Mike W do you think I can pull the engine out completely, fix the problem with starter bolts, then install the stock manifold and pipe on before dropping the motor back in and still have the motor fit? Cause getting that manifold off is kind of a bitch on a couple bolts so at least if I can get that done while motor is out it will save me some headache
thanks for the help manBecause of that reason I install the exhaust manifold before I put the motor in. You can leave the chamber off because it is very easy to install with the motor in the ski.
Guna order a set off amazon now, would have definitely been way easier with those. Like with anything the proper tool makes everything so much easier
