Surfriding Bond rail width and its effect on handling

i always wondered about cutting the rear bond line. seems to me that it would allow you to get the nose up faster at low speeds and have little effect of cornering. if anything it would get rid of that corner pocket that just grabs water in a hard turn and reduce drag.

true on the rear, but i cut the side rear farther forward, i should get a pic from the side rear to show it better, its not bad while cornering do to the angle of the rail. just picture the rail at 45 while riding straight and when you go to corner the rail is close to 90 so it catches more than it would with a 90 bond rail?(atleast thats my theory) but since i cut some of the rear out it slides just a bit more.

i understand what your saying about sliding after i looked at your pics again. i also agree that the bond rail should grab more water at a 45 degree. i think bringing it out to a 45 degree angle puts it closer to vertical when you combine the angle of the ski in a hard turn. where as the oem 90 degree side rail combined with the angle of a ski in a turn, puts the "biting" edge in a negative angle.

trying different combos is the only answer. having bolt on variations that someone could test back to back would be sweet to hear about. till then ill wait to chop up my bond rails.
