Finshed up today and will put it on the water tomorrow.

I have to admit, the colors are growing on me....still not digging the turf though.

Boyer you missed a couple different angles there! :)

But the ski looks great. The previous owner looks like he took good care with it

What can I say, I'm thorough. Pics are for posterity, in case it ever goes missing.

Actually I took them for SCDNR and figured I'd post them. I started filling out all the paperwork necessary to get it titled and registered properly. Hopefully it goes as smooth as my last hull. Going to cost me $340 in application fees and a few phone calls I'm sure. I stickered it up with my old reg numbers in the interim.

Previous owner barely rode this thing so it's in pretty decent shape. Lots of little chips and scratches though.

Well, the first ride went well and the report is positive. It definitely feels lighter on the water but its not an OMG lighter. Definitely feel the difference when loading at the end of the day though. The ride is basically identical except that it pops a little higher. Really not a great surf day and there were no other Matrix's there for comparison but I still had a blast and look forward to trying it out in some bigger surf down in Jacksonville.

Engine is still a handful and it was suggested again that I swap the SS865 for a strong 61X setup with a tad less power. I don't have anything on the shelf and I have exceeded my annual budget already so I doubt I'll make a change anytime soon.

I was really nervous about running scuppers in the surf but they seem to be pretty solid. They don't drain worth a crap in the driveway though and I had to vacuum the water out of the hull after washing it all down. I'm going to round up a set of plugs so I'll have them if I ever decide to block them off.

Previous owner ran a power factor pipe and smaller gas tank so he removed the tank strap mount and bumper to keep the tank in position. I had a new one made up so I ground out the old one and epoxied the new one in this morning.

Not having the main tank strap is one of the reasons I wasn't keen to head south quite yet. I knew she'd be passed around the group like a cheap whore so I didn't want her to get inverted until I had everything secured properly.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate working with composites?

I gave the dual pump dump Scuppers a chance but they gotta go. First ride had no issues but the second time out I started taking on water while sitting out in the water and then again just sitting on the beach.

I already had the entire bilge system out of my old ski so installed it all last night. I replaced the used Tsunami pumps with dual 500GPH Rule's on a Blowsion mount. My ebox already had the Tidy Bilge harness installed so everything else was quick and easy plug and play. This was one of the very first harness kits I ever built and it's holding up great.

I couldn't agree more Matt. My last hull had a single versaplug R in the left rear and it was decent enough. As far as I know, it didn't leak and it worked well to drain the engine bay after flushing. These dual Scuppers wouldn't even drain the engine bay.

I wish there was a simpler way to remove them from the hull entirely and shave the weight. The next best thing is to shove a pool noodle down the tubes behind the plugs to add some extra buoyancy to the boat.

Scuppers are one of the worst "innovations" evar

Always will be "The Great Debate".............

But by saying that l currently have a continuing problem in the rocket.Figured out it is not so much the scupper but the lean of mine as you can see from my avatar.Exhaust is low under the tray,so it fills with water when you stop.Flap hangs open just slightly thus causing a small leak.l leave one bilge on most of the time it is sitting and keep an eye out for it.
l bought an epic scupper which would have fixed it but there is not enough space between the pump and scupper to squeeze one in.l might get a versa plug in but the cavity at the rear is small and it would be a cut open and redesign the area to make it work.

At this time, screw it.Lets just ride

Oh there's no debate, not in my mind anyways.

The very first scupper I ever had worked flawless for over 7 seasons. It was a cheap 1" plastic plumbers one from lowes and was mounted inside the engine bay. I used to jump on my buddies boat and leave my ski floating in the middle of the lake for hours without giving it a second thought. When I redid my hull I replaced it with a proper 2" scupper and it would sink if you stopped moving for more than a minute and was full every time you went to drag it off the beach.

I have not installed a scupper in a single boat since and honestly, it was almost a deal breaker on this one. Dual scuppers and a front exhaust cut out are two blemishes I am really not happy about but hey, I got a smoking deal on the hull. I was willing to give it a go, knowing I could plug the holes and add pumps at any time and they let me down the second time out.

My freak was the same way Boyer.Never leaked anytime it was sitting. But l did the one way valve inside and a flap on the outside.Worked great. But the one on the rocket will get some surgery this winter.Just can't decide to either remove it or change it.Also thought about a lighter batt this summer.l currently run an odyssey that is on its 3rd season and was waiting till it croaked before replacing it.

That may help with lean but not sure

This is how I fixed my Thrust Scuppers. Guaranteed to never leak again.

The opening into the engine bay was an odd size. 2" plug was too small and 3" was too big so I had to make something in the middle. I started with a standard 2" mechanical test plug, upgraded the bolt and wing nut to stainless and then slipped a 1-1/2" rubber cap over the works to create a 2-1/2" drain plug for under $8 each.

This way I can pull them out quickly should I ever feel the need to scuttle the boat or test it's buoyancy.

Only took a year to get the HIN tag and proper registration letters applied.

Just in time to transfer it all over to a Georgia title and get a whole new set of numbers.
