Brand new SJ smoking?

I'm a noobie to all of this so excuse me if this is hilarious.. Picked up my 2017 SJ on Weds. Finally got to take it out today for it's first operation.. Upon starting it, smoke was coming out of the exhuast.. Is this because it's a new engine? Thanks

They premixed the first batch and filled it up before I even arrived. Said they did 25:1 per the manual, but who knows the truth behind that. I'll fill it up tomorrow again tomorrow with a guaranteed 25:1 for the break-in period.

It's a 2 stroke motor . The oil is mixed with the gas ( hope you know this) . Some smoking is normal. If it is brand new there may be increased oil ratio for break-in causing more smoke than normal. Follow some sort of break-in procedure everyone has they're own opinion on this you make the call on which one .

The engines are fogged with storage oil from the factory. It would smoke on first start even with a 50:1 mix.

Nothing to worry about. Enjoy your new SJ!

Congrats on the new ski. Yes the 25:1 break in will smoke more than 40:1-50:1 you'll be using in two tanks.

Better to ask than be wondering if it's not right. Enjoy it!
