Other Brand New to This All

Hey I am brand new to the forums. I am actually brand new to stand-up ski's. I grew up riding sit downs. Really enjoyed riding them but always had this fascination with the stand-up. They look like so much fun but unfortunately have never had the chance to get on one. Still to this day don't know a single person that owns one. Yeah it's sad. I really want to start getting into this hobby as I am bored with the other stuff I am doing. I have spent the past couple of days on here reading through just about every post I can. I have learned a lot already. I am considering buying an old ski that I can get and learn on. I want to learn how to get in an do all the repairs and mods on my own. I have never done any mechanical work on engines but I am extremely handy so I am hoping that I can learn how it all works and be able to pull the engine apart and fix things. I know it would be best to learn from someone else but at this moment it doesn't really seem like much of an option. I am probably going to be spending a lot of time researching and posting on here for all the questions that will be coming up as I am able to get into things. I am quite excited for all this and hope that I am able to get my first ski sooner rather than later but we'll have to see what the wife says about that.

Welcome to the X, there's lots of smart guys on this site that can help diagnose almost everything you need over the internet, but it does help having someone close by, since there's quite a few symptoms for different issues. I bought a standup last year without ever being on one, and i don't regret it one bit. I love it, i drove dirtbikes, street bikes, fast cars all my life... and IMO, there's nothing as fun as a standup. Best purchase i ever made. Just make sure to buy a healthy ski, cause with more down time than riding, you'll most likely not like the sport. Good luck.

haha yeah that is usually the best way. Lucky for me I am an accountant and I do all the books and she just trusts that we will have money.

Thanks for all the advice.

oh than it should be easy to slip the ski into the budget lmao, im lucky my girl loves skis as much as i do but shes still going through the couch stage :/ but i will convert her soon enough
