brass insert for pump bolt

I glassed in 1/2" wide strips of aluminum in place of the hull inserts. Glued them down, glassed them in, and drilled/tapped them from the bottom. Worked great for me. You could use brass plates too if you wanted to stick with that. Many ways to skin this cat, that was just the quickest/easiest/strongest thing I could think of.

well after i removed it i found out that with the original threads ripped out the hole was the same size as the tap drill for a 3/8-16 helicoil. it worked excellent. so if anyone is not doing a refoam and strips one out just helicoil it to 3/8-16.

i have a bunch of these in my spare parts bin from other skis i cut up. Luckily I haven't had this problem yet though. Got to be careful when putting in pump bolts not to strip the inserts out.

unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control i have had to have my pump and motor out several times a season for the last 2 seasons and now i defoamed over the last couple months. i even checked all the threads they never looked bad. oh well.
