Breaking Up

Hey guys just picked up a new 701. Its got factory b pipe, ADA head, k&n intake, and dual exhaust system. Runs great till you simply turn it over in water or anything that doesn't involve just cruising. It starts breaking up at quarter throttle like its on rev limiter. If I keep riding easy on it, it eventually clears out or if i shut it off andet it sit, it clears up and runs great. Any ideas? Thanks fellas

It does seem like it injests water somehow but what more can I do? I have a water screen on the filter. And if it was an adjustment would it run like this all the time?

It could be an air leak somewhere. You said it happens when you turn it over...at that point the fuel system could lose its pressure. Run down the line and check your lines everywhere including fuel tank one way check valve by blowing in it. It should blow the direction of the arrow only. Fuel lines lose or leaking?

It could be water coming through the intake. If its choppy water it's a high chance that's at least a part of the problem.

Thanks man ill go througth all the lines and make sure theres no leaks. Maybe even replace them all just to rule it out but they def look newer. I cant imagine its the water coming in intake considering it was flat water mainly and I had little to no water in hull when i popped hood. I did find a loose exhaust clamp but that wouldnt make sense that it only does it when tipped. Th

start it up at night when its black as a coal diggers ass. look for sparks jumping from plug wire or anywhere under the hood. easy check.

Neighbors love it when you do that....

If you see sparks, you probably need to change your plug ends or coil. Always make sure you have a good ground on your battery too. I like to run a redundant ground too.

Sounds like carbs to me. Probably worth rebuilding if you are unsure.

Could you explain to me how carbs would make it break up when water hits them? Doesn't make sense to me
