Freestyle broken handle pole

we were out at the beach today and of course right at the end of the ride i break my pole. broke way too easy...

what did you do reinforce it? epoxy, rivit's and wrap it in glass?

I must say, that must have been a powerful nose stab lol or a weak pole

yea it was weak. the person who put it together just cut it -4 and stuck it back in.. no backing plates, epoxy or any of that. the bolts just went through the fiberglass, and into the styrofoam, it was made to fail!

just fixed it yesterday, made up some backingplates and epoxyd it in.. not sure if we are going to wrap it in fiber glass though. does that make it that much stronger?

you don't have a crack or anything, and it is going to break at the same spot, the pivot point to the fiberglass, so unless you wrapped the metal and the glass together, i don't see a huge benefit.

if you had a crazy crack through it or actually broke the fiberglass and not just pulling it out of the pivot mount, then yes wrap it in glass or carbon.

MY roommate's sj just had the same thing happen. BUT, we epoxied and riveted it together, and it shattered the bottom aluminum piece of the pole.
