Broken one way breather

I was rather surprised to find that the one-way valve breather to the gas tank on my 2014 super jet was all broken inside. All the parts were rattling inside. The last time I rode my JetSki was in the ocean which is 2300 feet lower than where I normally ride. Highsky ran so lean that it was unrideable; hardly ran. I didn't think that little bit of an elevation change could have such an extreme effect. Was it running lean due to lack of take pressure because of the broken one-way valve? I can blow air both ways through the valve easily. Makes sense to me but I would like this confirmed...

you should be able to blow air into the tank but the tank shouldn't be letting air,fuel, vapors out.

Exactly. It was blowing air past both ways but after sitting for two days, it now works properly again... Heh wow stupid. It's brand new. Idk what that's all about
