Building A Pole And Bracket For Under $150

Well, since Yamahammer's stock pole has been repaired more times than we can remember it was time for a new setup. We started last night with about $100 worth of aluminum and went to work. The bracket is all 1/2 aluminum with six 8mm bolts to hold it on the boat. It has a 1/4 inch stainless backing plate. The pole is made from 1/4 inch aluminum plate and .120 wall 2 inch tubing. We should have the rest finished up tonight and ready for paint.

don't let fl-cracker hear you. he's convinced the world revolves around 10lbs.

i agree with you... my boat + myself are probably in the upper spectrum of the weight ranges too. and i have a very mild motor compared to alot of people. it's basically just a limited setup with a bpipe.

and.. your fab skills are frickin awesome. that pole looks good man. that is a hell of a bracket. hope you reinforced that hull there. ive ripped a hull once or twice at the corner of the pole bracket.

Surprisingly enough for the amount of times the stock pole was broken the hull has zero stress cracks in that area. We will however be doing some reinforcing, with the pole stronger we all know it will just find the next week point.

Thanks, I credit my fabrication to necessity, necessity being lack of funds.

Its the exact same height as the stock one, being 6'4" tall, yamahammer doesn't really need a slammer boat. Finished product coming tonight.

sorry for the jack but I helped Dre lift his ski and he is not a small guy either- not fat but just normal looking from a few feet away- its not until you stand next to him and realize you have to look way up to see him that it dawns on you - this is one big dude. anyway- he didn't seem to have any trouble whatsoever hitting the clouds at sebby.

Nice work bob- you beat me to it- I have been biitchin about the price of aluminum poles and saying I can build one for a lot less. thanks for proving it- waiting to see the test results. oh and that bracket is HUGE! ginormous even, what up? (edit) hm its looks big must be trick potography.

Here you go, see how it disappears behind the nose piece.........................

I say if you have the capability, build your own. The best part is you can do it the way you want it, not the way someone else does. We also made the one on the FX-1000, so far it has held up like a champ.
