bungee hood straps?

I really like mine. They fit great and really hold the hood down snug. They are from Wamiltons, but definitely are way over priced for a couple of rubber bungee cords. Next time I'll be making my own.

Just set up mine a few weeks ago. So far so good. Haven't landed any big rolls on my side though so time will tell. Bolted the front of the straps to the front hood bracket bolts. Just replaced the existing with a longer bolt. As you can see I couldn't find a stainless bolt long enough so this is temporary until I do. For the back I bolted some stainless u bolts to the same bolts that hold the electrical box on through the bulkhead. I didn't even drill any hole for this set up. 2 bungees-Home Depot, 2 stainless 1-1/4 u bolts- a boat shop, and some stainless hardware-ace hardware, total cost about $10 bucks.

I kinda like that. How long were the bungee cords? 3 footers?

I like the idea... I don't like that fact that bungee cords are near my cojones! For that reason I think I'd stick with a different type.

The bungees I used are 31". I'm stretching them approx 12" when their latched. I ride mostly surf so I want my hood really snug. You can use longer bungees but obviously it will take less force to move your hood. Just have to remember they are rubber so check them every couple of months for wear. Their only like $1.50 if you need to replace one. I'm not worried about them breaking and hitting me in the nads. If one breaks from the back the bungee will spring forward, if it breaks from the front it could spring back and hit you about knee level.

My setup doesnt use bungee cords but I do have it set up with battery straps and nylon strap. It works out really well.
