Been out of it for 10 years but I'm looking for a 08+ SJ. I really prefer a 12 or 13 with pipe and heads done.

My requirements:
-Heads and b pipe already done unless it's a super cheap/ mint stocker 12 to 15
-If 08 to 11 it must be painted black or vinyl wrapped and be refoamed with most of the mods already done I want. Or killer price.

I found a 13 with ada girdle heads and b pipe just 3 hours away. It also comes with a jet trim mat kit. The seller is a nice guy but he's stuck on price. He wanted 7k and I have him down to $6500. My gut says it's a 6k ski tops. No trailer and all stock other than those mods. He got pissed when I tried explaining that I don't think that ski is worth that much when looking on craigslist and on here at previously sold comparable models. He said his friend bought a 14 last year with b pipe and heads for $7300 and he thinks he can get his asking price in the summer.

Buy or pass? My gut says to be patient and I can probably find a 12 or 13 with a lot more already done to it for that price. But on the other hand how hard is it going to be to find a 12 or 13 with heads and b pipe already done for under 6k before summer?

it looks like that b pipe chamber lost a fight to a hammer... i'd tell him to get a new chamber or drop that price by the cost of getting a new one. he'll probably tell you that it wont effect anything, but its winter and you can't test it.

Head looks rough too, I’d pass personally...lots of skis Available these days just have to wait it out. Have seen aftermarket stuff selling here in that price range too so some good deals to be had out there

Edited to add poll (d'oh!). I only added these pics to show it's not a mint ski like the seller thinks. However, the heads are just a little dirty and lots of people dent up the pipe to install easier so that doesn't bother me. The hull pics show the rashes below the rub rail.

I'd pass and wait for one with footholds and shortened handlepole. Those are the other 2 essential mods that are expensive and difficult/time consuming to install. I paid $5000 for my 96 that was completely rebuilt and it had all the right mods for the surf. IMO if you take a pre 08 and a post 08, add tubbies to both, they handle almost identical.

i've done ghetto things to get by for a day or week. but denting a expensive chamber cause im to lazy spend 5 min to pull a fuel tank, no. what else has he done to that ski that you dont know about?

i'd pass too.

I want newer since I don't have a shop and won't even be keeping it at my house. I know they're reliable but I prefer 12+ since it shouldn't need refoaming, bearings, or a rebuild too soon.

Do the 12+ not use 2 part foam? Or are they sealed better? Honest question. Just wondering why you wouldn't think you'd need to refoam a 7 year old SJ?

If the dent was on the outside then yes, there is no reason to dent right there. Not sure what in the hell was going on with that. Its not a great price, nor is it a bad price. You can sell 10 year old used B Pipes for almost 700.00 and buy a new B Pipe for 780 or so. (not looked in a while on new pricing). So, the pipe adds at least 700 in value from a stocker. Head, about 200.00 (used condition heads are a dime a dozen). Carb adjuster screws added. Flame arrestors...... What about prop, enhancer, intake grates?

100% false not even close

I said it's my opinion and my opinion isn't "100% false". I owned both and the 08+ with tubbies required more momentum to get the rear to slide out and it liked to chine walk a little at 15-20mph. Those were the main differences. Besides that, they both hooked very well in turns, they both rode great etc. Will he regret either decision? I highly doubt it. So instead of calling my opinion false, how about you think to share your opinion?

Everything else is bone stock except for jet trim mats he's including. He is the second owner and first owner installed the pipe and heads.

An old friend that use to live in Jersey and now lives in Atlanta (hmmm wonder who) hit me up and has the same year ski with more mods for less money. So I'm most likely going to work something out with that. Just have to make a drive down to Atlanta.

I offered this seller $5750 if he changes his mind otherwise I'm gonna pass.

I did share my opinion, see post 12.

Your opinion is way off base and should not be taken seriously. If it were true, you would see people would be lining up for lites class on square noses
