This has 32's on 700c wheels, inflated to 110 psi - so I think I'm good?
The pressure is good. the size is a little big (coming from a road bike perspective) but will probably be fine at that pressure. I looked at the info for the 7.3, sounds like a good choice for a commuter.

While I ride pavement 90% of the time, sometimes I need to cut through unpaved stuff to get from one road to the bike path or vice versa. I think thinner tires would make this tougher.
Anyways, before I even think about different tires, I need to get myself a helmet, lights, and a rack. Computer would be nice, too.

are you biking to commute to save money? get in shape? all the above?

Good question. It's really a combination of factors.
I enjoy the riding. It's far less aggravating to ride my bike instead of sitting in rush hour traffic. The commute takes the same amount of time either way.
It saves me some gas money and I don't put miles on my truck. Granted, it would take a LOT of time to recoup the cost of the bike I just bought. I didn't do this to save money, but it is an added benefit. (This was far easier to justify with the free Walmart bike)
And finally, it is good exercise.

don't be scared of off road with skinny tires. I take my bike off the road on occasion with 700 23c or 25c tires. If I know i'm going to do an off road trail I put my 28c knobby tires on.

Bikes are a lot of fun and much more accessible than ski's. Ski's are more fun but it's hard to ride your ski to work.

The town I live in (Richland, WA) is ideal for using a bike to run errands. Whenever I have to run to a store, to the library, wherever, I take the bike. Enjoyable rides and mostly as fast as taking a car.

I go to the library quite a bit. I am starting to feel like a hippie, riding a bike all the time and spending as much time at the library as I do.
But I s'pose hippies don't pack 1911's.

Is that a question or a statement?

I will say that riding this Trek is A LOT more fun than riding my old clunker.
