Buying a new 2021 SuperJet

Just an FYI, a local was able to source Carbon Fiber tubes that replace the OEM SJ handlepole tubes. Might be another option instead of going with full RRP pole.
Saves a pound. Meh. I think most putting on aftermarket poles will be doing it for aesthetics. That being said, going to put an RRP pole on mine.

Yeah, that is me.... IMO the stock pole is too small looking for the size of the ski. It reminds me of a Dale's pole on a SXR. I hate the pole pad, steering, etc. RRP pole will look better, steer better, and so on.....

How does this ride say compared to an sxr 800? I've never rode anything newer than the 800s. For some reason these 2021 sjs sound and look enticing to me.

rrp pole is lipstick on a pig! thought the sxr1500 was ugly till this thing came out! wtf is wrong with designers of skis lately?

I saw one with some graphics and it wasn’t terrible. I think it’s better than the Kawi which isn’t saying much. Could have just kept the front similar to a round nose and it would have looked pretty cool.

They weren't even thinking about looks when they decided to make a run of these things. It was on the shelf for years and years and they finally figured why not.

Then greatly underestimated how many people wanted one. I'm sure the 22 will look like a samurai dolphin with slick lines for our viewing pleasure. Just $800 dollars more

When I first saw the pics, I too was SO disappointed. But when this came in, I will say I don't hate it as much as I thought. It actually looks better in person. Granted, it is not a RN, but it isn't as bad as I thought. Graphics, and a pole will help a lot. it is no were near as ugly as the SXR. At least it looks like a stand up. It is not as big as I thought, and two people can actually pick it up and easily carry it, again unlike the Kawi

Really different, has enough power to get the nose out of the water much better than I expected. Also breaks loose in the rear a little. High speeds it’s much more solid but I swear sometimes it’ll catch a invisible wave and start listing. Hull is definitely strange to say the least. I think with some tasteful mods it’ll really wake up. Stock steering is a PoS but expected.

"Okay remember, we don't care about how this is going to look AT ALL guys, just do whatever" - Yamaha engineering principal during important design meeting
Also "Yeah, lol, literally no one is gonna buy one of these guys, don't even worry about it"

Do you realize how big Yamaha is? It's not just some backyard hull builder, everything they do is calculated down to the cent. They know exactly what they are doing and have technical reasons for how and why they do it.

No way, the company that made my stereo amplifier, jet ski, acoustic guitar, my buddies motorcycle, and my brother's piano can't possibly be a worldwide corporation!
