Freestyle Buzzard flys south, windmill cove, what an escapade...............

one of our favorite boats from years ago came looking for me. Tom & margie got my # and want me to call when we want them to come out and throw one for us! such nice people $$$$$$$$$$$$. glass conditions and a nice day. kamakazi chris having some gopro issues and missed the best action, when they kicked it up a notch on the way back. lodi greg, joe gallagher, cody on the red bull SJ, square nose bill riding one of my round noses and our ladies on the couch.

I couldn’t believe I had multiple camera malfunctions on Saturday. Escapade was generating huge rollers (the best of the day!) during her last cruise up the deep-water channel from Windmill Cove to the Port of Stockton. The Buzzard was soaring high on his barrel rolls and I only managed to captured two of them! I was so disappointed. First, the GoPro kept shutting off automatically while I was recording the action. I’ve learned to regularly glance at the GoPro remote I wear on my left wrist because of past reliability issues. I’ll restart the recording if I notice the camera has stopped. Second, after super hard landings from my jumps, the helmet-mounted GoPro tilted forward. The failure mechanism here was I didn’t tighten the mounting screw enough to keep the camera in place. You can see this happening at the very end of this clip.</SPAN></SPAN>

Overall, it was a great day!

Chris

So I'm not usually on the Buzzard Bus, but maybe I'm coming around....... just a little. I gotta give props on the immediate, like don't even take a breath 180 turn after he lands to get back in front of the boat and go again. That's humpin it. Cardio fo sho... I'd be dead.

You ever try to throw a roll the other way Buzz? With all the boats y'all seem to get, looks like you'd have opportunity to learn it.

Yah and I found out my hero 3 is totally toast from Saturday.

Didn’t you say that you attempted a firmware upgrade but that failed on Saturday? Did you try it again? Is it possible to revert to the previous rev of firmware?</SPAN>

In any case, you should contact GoPro and file a service ticket. Your camera must still be under warranty. The service techs are very good. On my original GP2, I had a power issue. After troubleshooting it, he determined my camera was defective and sent me a new replacement GP2. Once the season is over, I’ll contact GoPro on my current recording issue.</SPAN>

Good luck,</SPAN>

Here’s a frame grab from the video of the Buzzard inverted in the middle of his roll! Check out his shadow on the water (he’s upright!). This will also give you an idea how high his apex was when he did his roll.</SPAN>

This dude is fearless and keeps going while the rest of us are totally beat. I have gained a lot of respect for the Buzzard and am honored to ride with him on a regular basis. Wouldn’t you rather watch him doing barrel rolls and back flips or me just doing jumps? No contest...he keeps my YouTube viewership up! </SPAN> :)</SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>

very few guys in this game can spin both ways on rolls or flat spins. we usually see those that can, at the top of the heap, competing. maybe after i get my XS1200 chan, i'll try some the other way, since i'll be going about a 1/2mph. not a good idea to try rolling the opposite direction at 30mph. i've already got a big dent in my leg from learning rolls the first time and since i do this for no other reason than adrenalin fun, injuries are not part of the fun.

i love chasing boats! pure adrenalin! its like a combination of freestyle and racing. you hit the wake and do a flip or roll, then haul ass as fast as you can, over the swells, over other chop coming from all directions, watching out so you dont get ran over by some sitdown, boater or other knucklehead, trying not to get tossed off, just to do it all over again. usually the boat wake doesnt last for long or long enough, but windmill has some 2-4 mile runs. a couple years ago, i chased a boat and they counted 60 non stop rolls. i chased that same boat earlier and asked if they were counting. i did just as many on that run or more. thats over 100 rolls on just that one boat and there are always more than one big one.

def dave has better stamina than i do and has a physic like bruce lee.

I tried to connect to the computer, but it seems to get stuck. It tries to turn on, but then turns back off. Back and forth never actually booting up. The red light on the back flashes and it will only charge for about 30 sec before the red light goes off, I am going to call them tomorrow.

there aint no way to flip a glass FR2 with a 701 off a boat wake. i watcher brandon lawlor try it on this same fr2 off a similar or bigger boat, here at windmill a couple years ago and he got upside down and dropped out of the sky like a stone. if he cant do it, i aint even gonna try!

LOL, so a 701 is your choice of power now days WTF? I have seen 900 non PV ADA w/ b-pipe, 144 mag and total loss do them on flatwater in the FS2 and sky them out on boat wakes.
Guess I figured you had more horses pulling that wagon.

NO IT AINT MY CHOICE OF POWER! but i'm glad i can still have fun with less than 702CCs of motor. thats why i have over 100 skis, they are all task specific. i think i could flip a chan with a 701 and it would work well off bigger boat wakes. any windmill boat chaser needs a good sized gas tank.

LOL "they're all task specific"

Pretty sure 75 of them have one task...

That's not true. MDStandup was flipping his stock SJ hull with a 701 and Pipe off Boat wakes.

My home away from home.
So many boat wakes, wake spacing, and chop are always different too. We don't have chit up here, but wake board boats and rarely can we get close to them, so they're usually junk when we get to the wake.

When I was at Miller last spring, all the wakes were different. (Lots of different sized boats traveling at different speeds) Although I didn't commit to a roll and only tried one flip. Some are barrel roll wakes, while others (fewer) are flip wakes.

Damn I'm jealous of the wakes you guys get!! Bastards lol!!

But now that I know what motor is in that ski, that also helps explain the speed and air of the rolls.

My son has a 650 in his BG2 and he has to bomb at wakes to get rolls around.
