Yeah I've been running Ad block for years and now youtube is cracking down like said. For a week or so, I got a small warning page about every 5 video's, and that page had like a 5 second timer delay clock thing. NOW, they have stopped that and each and every video that I play has a exact 10 second buffer delay before the video starts. You can see that the video still loads as fast as ever, but now has that delay. I am being punished i guess. hahahaa I guess its better than 10-90 seconds of crap... I looked and there are app's and add-on's and easy hacks you can do to get away from that I guess.

Maybe it will be youtubes downfall.

I record streaming channels with Playon and then host all content on my Plex Media Server. Not all services and channels are available though.
I currently have 1430 movies and 166 TV Series I can watch from any device, including my mobile devices from the hotel room. I also share it with friends and family.

I pay for several subscriptions though so this is not a cheap path. But, I have enough saved content that I could cut the cable tomorrow and have years of independent viewing pleasure. The original plan was to build up the library and then cut the cord but I'm addicted to new content and Plex replaced the DirectTV Genie when we ditched the dish for DirectTV NOW.

The only think holding me back from canceling Directv is the ability to record programs. Any insight on a workaround for that?
Search youtube to mp3 or youtube to mp4 and it will download the video for you. some of the sites are sketchy so recomend adblock and noscript enabled on your browser.

Mine did that and then it just stopped playing videos all together. I disabled my adblocker for youtube for a couple videos and then re-enabled it. Been good since.

Another free option is 1697894915007.png they have the latest of everything you could ever want to watch. But again you will want adblock and no-script on your browser. Then with no-script only allow the urls needed to watch the show.

You mean when you’re older and look back on your life and see how much time you didn’t waste consuming empty entertainment, you’re not going to regret it?! Madness!
Some of my favorite "channels" for random knowledge are on Youtube, but they too are moving away from it. Project Farm, Technology Connections, Gaming Historian, and more. I stopped watching real TV in High School.

I haven't paid for TV in about 25 years! I have an antenna that picks up about 20 channels, and the Samsung TV's that work off the internet. I don't watch much TV anyway, it rots the brain!
I had Hulu to share it with my Parents, but it's all the same crap in the end. Not enough NEW content. Prices keep going up, less content. NO!

There is something to be said about NOT having to choose(like the chef's special or a podcast/radio hour).

Project farm posted a video 3 days ago, what indication do you have that he is moving away from youtube?

This is super interesting. Do you basically sign into each streaming service on the playon app, then it prompts you to record?
