This is super interesting. Do you basically sign into each streaming service on the playon app, then it prompts you to record?
Pretty much. There's a channel guide where you can enter all your credentials for each service.
After that, you open the interface, select your channel and can see your saved lists or browse all content.
Once you find the movie you want, you hit record and it moves into your Queue.
For series, you can "record all" or "subscribe" and it will automatically record the new episodes as they come available.

It's useful but definitely time consuming and just one step in how I manage my movie collection.
- Youtube for discovery of upcoming trailers and content.
- JustWatch to keep track of shows I wish to record and it tells me where and when it becomes available.
- PlayOn to record Streaming content.
- CloneBD to rip from BD's I rent from Redbox.
- Plex Server with 5 WD Red HDD's totaling 36TB of storage to manage and host my library.

Once you hit One Million on Youtube, I would think they'd invest in a "Website". At that point they would free themselves from the platform.

The internet is broken. You do NOT need an "App" for that. I want my wild west back!

I was literally just thinking to myself, damn how good was YouTube back in its Wild West days.

So thinking down the road, I’m assuming streaming services are not particularly thrilled about this type of thing. If play on one day gets suicided, is there still going to be a way to pull your recorded shows off a central cloud?

I had Disney + , they kept going up on the price but not the content so I canceled that, I get Netflix free from my sons account and my Fiance' has Amazon prime so I am good.

I do have to say I do not like where streaming is headed , personally like most people I like that there are no ads in the middle of my shows, well low and behold Amazon prime now has limited ads and now Netfilx is set to do the same.

The basic subscription will now have ads, if you don't want ads you have to get the ad free standard which is over twice as much money or the premimum which is three times as much.

These guys are just like cable , the longer they go the greedier they get.

I ditched Disney + because the price kept going up but the content didn't.

l have rabbit ears for local channels, cause l’m old, like to watch the local news, as well as Mash, and Andy Griffith. Have Netflix,Paramount, and just got Peacock. Don’t pay for Netflix, but just started paying for paramount (had a free year). As soon as l finish the last season of Picard, it will be cut off. Yes, l’m a trekkie fan. Peacock let’s me watch supercross and l guess the Super bowl.(?) Under $15 bucks for it all and don’t give a fck if l watch every day. Gave up cable years ago, after listening to hornedogg talking about streaming.
