dayum, $220 for placement, that sucks!! i dont think ill be doing any lake riding this year with this dang drought going on. im gona leave the muscle stickers off and only ride surf and bay this year. i dont even have room for that damn sticker where its supposed to be and im not tryna redo my cf numbers.
lol wow that sounded lazy

Here in Colorado the rangers are serious about it, probably because on of our lakes has zebra mussels in it. Anyways, You have to get inspected before you launch, which is fine by me. Im not complaining about that at all. The process is painless enough and we don't have to pay for an extra sticker. However, I got totaly screwed at a local lake. The issue was that me and a buddy got inspected and then launched at one dock, rode to the other end of the lake, pulled out for a bbq at a friends lake house for two hours or so, and launched again (without being inspected again). When we came back there were 3 rangers waiting for us. We got slapped with a ticket for not launching, even though he radioed to the other side of the lake and found out they indeed had record of us launching. His response was that the neighbors were concerned and it was his job to keep them happy. I told him to relay the situation to them, to which he became furious. I told him I refused to sign the ticket, and he said I would be arrested. I regretfully conceded and signed the damn thing. At any other lake they only have one inspection point and multiple launching ramps. once you are inspected that day you are free to go to any of them. I assumed this place was the same. I guess the lakes name should be changed from Jackson res, to Nazi waterway.

i was just at miller earlier today on my 1000 freak, same ski i got the ticket on, and here comes the same yolo cop out of the marina. this time i didnt have any #s or reg on the ski at all. i just waved and they kept on going. and i did let him have it when he ticketed me last year. unfortunatly about every few years the the cops get swapped out. just about the time you get on their good side and they are cool, you get a whole new group of by the book dicks.View attachment 241155

When life serves you lemons ,make lemonade ! ECFR 1st annual quagga cook off :Here is my theory on how we can eliminate the Quagga Mussel.

3 lb. 5 oz. mussels
2 cups lager or light beer
2 onions, chopped
5 garlic cloves, chopped coarsley
1 fresh green chili (jalapeno or serrano) deseeded
and thinly sliced.
1/2 cup fresh tomatoes, diced or canned, chopped
2 - 3 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro

1. scub the mussels under cold running water to remove any mud. Using a sharp knife, cut away the feathery "beards" from the shells. Discard any open mussels that do not shut when tapped sharply with a knife. Rinse again in cold water.

2. Place the lager, onions, garlic, chili, and tomatoes in a heavy based pan. Bring to a boil.

3. Add the mussels and cook, covered, over a medium high heat for about 10 minutes until the shells open. Discard any mussels that do not open.

4. Ladle into individual bowls and serve sprinkled with fresh cilantro.

VARIATIONS: Add the kernals from 2 ears of corn to the lager mixture in step 2. A pinch of sugar might be needed to bring out the sweetness of the corn.

Serves 4

Colorado made my day. Just got my stickers and they match my ski! Probably the last time this happens for another decade or two. I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts

If my ski is registered in CA do I need a CA mussel sticker to ride below Davis dam on the river?

Edit: Davis dam is below Lake Mohave in AZ.

The sticker will come with your new registration. So if it isn't expired don't worry about it. Should you put it on once you have it? I would say yes for sure.

That's every ones golden question- Are there any fresh water riding areas that are exempt ? Unfortunately I think the answer is if you ride any freshwater at all in CA then you need the sticker

I meant Davis dam on the colorado river in AZ. I didn't pay for the sticker because I don't ride in freshwater lakes in CA...

I would agree it's needed for any state/public lakes in CA.

I would say dont worry about it. I havent ever been stopped or questioned and with proper registration you will be fine.
