I just bought a bar mount bilge switch from TI. I was wondering if I can wire it into the e-box. I was going to use the old temp sensor groment to get into the e-box.

Is this even a good idea?

Yes it's fine, mine is wired into the e- box, it's a little cleaner then wired to battery

Edit: I also have the Epic HX3 external timing switch wired into the e-box.

Like mentioned below, it is busy in their, the wife's I had wired to the battery which was fine too

The limited Iam working on has the bildge and a water injection take out wired into e-box it's been working without issue for 8 or more years

Edit: Iam using the tiddy bildge OCD makes

IMO: Bad Idea

I'm not sure why you would want your bilge involved with the e-box at all.
There's plenty going on there as is.

Loop it through the battery power, fuse it if you feel the need, but don't involve the e-box.

I have had mine this way for years! JSS sent back my box with a pos/neg coming out the top. I used them for my 1100GPH fully auto and love it! Bomb proof. JSS uses no fuse either.

I have quick disconnects on the top of my ebox for the starter and positive wire. I wire my buildge pumps there. I believe it looks cleaner and easier to axcess.

My point was all about "service-ability" and maintenance.

I don't think any rider with any reasonable amount of experience wants to open up a well sealed e-box because of bilge issues.
Yes, less wires and such makes your ski "look really cool".... but bilge pumps screw up more than anything in your e-box.
So, do you want a really pretty engine compartment, or, do you want something that you can fix on the beach during a break from riding?

This is a no-brainer to me.
Don't mess with the e-box if it's working.

I agree with dan and wire outside of ebox until i need to open ebox then i have ocd tidy bidge ready to go. His surf armour switch and bullet connectors are the way to go.

To speak to Dan's points a bit. First I will agree, nobody wants to open a perfectly sealed ebox for any reason unless they absolutely have to. I myself need quite a bit of motivation before I even think of cracking the seal on the ebox. Case in point; I actually have an updated bilge harness* and some new battery cables to go into my ski and I am still waiting for a better reason to crack the ebox seal.

That being said, the sole reason for installing the wires into the ebox is because it is sealed and we don't want to mess with things anymore. Would I crack the seal just to install a bilge kit? Mmm, probably not but if needed to be opened for another reason, then yes I would add the wires without hesitation. Just think, no more extra or corroded wires hanging off the battery, not to mention no more not so waterproof fuse holder floating around getting constantly doused in water.

Now here is where I get to disagree with at least one of Dan's points. The only two points of contact inside the ebox for the bilge are the positive and negative wires. Thus, nothing to service. If these do happen to need servicing, you must have water intrusion and the entire ebox will need servicing anyways. The fuse is tucked under the screw cap and accessible if needed.

Now, If you do have bilge issues, the issue is normally with the switch or the pump. Kits like my Tidy bilge utilize quick connectors so you can swap in a new pump or switch without opening up anything. The way my ski is set up, I can swap out a pump on the beach in under a minute with no tools. The switch can be disconnected from the harness just as easy. (Removal from the dash or bars is another matter)

I moved the wires into my ebox when I built and installed the very first Tidy Bilge setup in 2009. It has not required any maintenance in over 5 years now and all I ride is saltwater. The ebox itself has moved between 3 different hulls and is still sealed and dry. I have changed out a few pumps over the years, making the transition from Rule to Atwood and back to Rule. I also failed the original rotary switch and have replaced it with a first gen Surf Armor switch. Harness and connections are still going strong and I have never had a need to go back into the ebox for any bilge related issues.

*The new harness I have waiting will run one manual pump and one automatic pump wired to a 3 position rotary switch. I really want to swap it over but I also want to see how long the original harness lasts.

To disagree with me is fine. My wife does it all of the time. lol..
I know you have a great product. Your products are in my ski, as you know.
I have no issue using the pos/neg in the box. My issue is "opening the box that is working" for the sole purpose of installing bilge wires.
As silly as it seems, those e-box gaskets can be hard to come by.
I'd buy a few if somebody with a die and a punch press started spitting them out for a reasonable price. Not that complicated for the right shop.
I've had the same gasket since 2003.
BTW: Just because your e-box has never been opened does not mean that it's tight and leak free. Those who have gone thru that ordeal know why I stand by my previous posts.

why dont you e box worry weenies make a pressure test cap out of an extra cap and a brass fitting, and use a pop off pump to put a few lbs in it and check your seal. Then you might not be soooo scared to open it up every once in a while. Its not that big of a deal and much better to check than not. Might find a leak you didn't know you had.

....because it's much easier to use a jello mold and encase it in ballistic jelly and spray that down with a silicone-never seize mix which is then powder coated and chromed.
