Super Jet Can these carbs be saved?

Picked up a GP760 case, cylinder and carbs from someone parting the ski out on Craigslist. I soaked these in BP Blaster for about a week, cleaned them up and some screws came out, but others just stripped the heads.

Looking for suggestions to successfully extract stripped out screws and breathe life back into these things. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

An impact screw driver is a good start and advisable on even a good carb to keep the screws from stripping. Less than $15.00 at the auto parts store or harbor freight and worth every penny from a frustration standpoint. As this point I would take a dremel with the appropriate attachment and cut some notches in the stripped screw so that you can get the impact screw driver attachment to bite in the the screw.

I would also worry about corrosion in the internal passages and frying a motor.

You can also usually cut a slot in the screw head with a small dremel cutting wheel then knock on it with an impact driver. Completely disassemble them and let them sit in a bucket of carb dip for a while.

note to self: dont buy carbs from the people in this thread :D

I guess it would be fine for cheap stock motors but when 46's are $200 brand spanking new with new gaskets and everything its a no brainer to just let the bad ones hit the scrap bucket upgrade to 46's and get new intenals. Just not worth the time and headache and you'll never know if the internals are cleared or not so in the end it could all be for nothing. But i'm sure you can get them to work too, whats your time worth?

there is nothing wrong with those carbs. all that goop is from a couple rusty screws. if you put a screwdriver in the screw and then bash it with a big hammer, it comes right out. its better to do that before you use an impact driver. if you don't bash it first before the impact driver, it sometimes strips the head out before it turns. if the seat arm screw wont come out, you are screwed. it all depends how deteriorated the heads are. all that crust is not plugging up jets until it gets on the other side of the jet plate. I've even used diaphrams that looked like that before they were cleaned. if they aren't hard, they are still good. they are junk if you cant get them apart
