With an event this large, if you make 'just one little exception', you will have 15 more people thinking that it's OK to skirt the rules. A 3D is an X-4 hull basically, sure, so if that guy is riding a 3D, then I can surely take my '96 XP out and jump since it's the same ski with a smaller engine.

There has to be a line and Nick has it set, but if he wants to move the line then that's his prerogative.

The official Volusia County Ride Zone happens to be behind the Makai. In the past they would extend it to accommodate the freeride.

The "Daytona Freeride" is now a "private event" which has it's own permitted zone. If you dont have a freeride permit (from Nick), no riding!

Personally I would let the 3D out there (standup mode only)...

next year keep it off the board and PM nick here or FB. Keep it out of the hands of the keyboard cowboys (run what you brung) and you will be fine. We had a spark we rode for a bit with no problems.

In the end it is up to Nick.

Ya we seen the spark out there. Woulda been cool to show u kids how to ride it while it was there. But not cool that it was cool for that to be out there and not the 3-d. Ok it's lighter but they are the exact same size. Oh well, no biggie. It's was friggin cold anyway and I don't have a wet suit, so Ida been out there in board shorts and prolly gettin over bein sick right now. But it woulda been fun.

There are at least 3 different sit-down related happenings going on here. Yes the lifeguards were riding stupidly. Yes a Spark was ridden in the ride zone, and my understanding is that Nick was not happy about it/did not approve it. And finally, to the OP - thank you for following the rules, even though some others didn't - they were not allowed to do what they did (to my knowledge) - you were not denied anything that others were allowed.

Can we put this topic to rest - whats done is done folks...

The Spark was 'noticed' by Nick and others and not in a good way.

Just so everyone knows there was two different sparks on the water. One on Sat and a different one on Sun. I did test ride the spark Sat for about 5 mins but away from the stand up riders. I knew there would be objection to the spark thats why I went away from the zone cept the in and out of the beach. Nick did give permission for this spark to be on the water.

I love that all you pole riders get jacked around by the only guy out there you can't tell what to do. The guy who should understand how to ride safely.... doesn't. Perfect irony.

Even though I think this event is insane for the just banning couches all together, I strongly agree people who dont understand what type of event it is and how the majority rides shouldn't be out there.

And BTW the ultimate in hypocrisy is not allowing the 3d. Albeit the joke up all standups, it is technically a stand up.

From what I know both Sparks were OK'd by the Furor. "every situation is different" is the official answer I got. More like, friends of sponsors...rules dont apply.

I think they should quit calling it a freeride; no other freeride bans certain skis.

But what I do I know...Im a dumb nobody couch rider.

Locked. Nick/yamaslut has final say on this and is not participating in this thread, so take it up with him on FB in the Daytona Freeride group if you must.
