Can we space it out a little maybe

Not sure on the rest of the events here, but wavedaze was moved to spring to more evenly space out surf events,There are many more surf events in Oct as well as world finals. Surf events can really only take place in the early spring or late fall when the demand for large spaces on the beaches isnt as high. I would think lake events would be better to be in mid summer months.

Actually no, the State Park the freeride is based on or around is booked solid after the middle of May, it is the only public location left on the lake. Before that date the water level is not up high enough and after that date you would never get a sufficient number of campsites to hold an event there. The only other dates even possible would be after Labor day. usually we have Smith lake freeride after Labor day.
Around here we try to work together and space out the freerides at least a month apart so people can attend, if they are spaced the way these are now a lot of folks that normally would attend a bunch of freerides will not be able to do so.

Why would lakes be any better during the summer months than a beach?
Do lakes have LESS tourist traffic in the summer somehow?

I know this lake is busy as hell all Summer long, we made the mistake of trying to have a June ride at Smith lake last year, that did not turn out so well lol.

We usually go sometime towards the end of july or beginning of august Im not sure when we are planning on going this year. Even around then the water is alittle cold for us southern folk. Our place is on armstrong point if you happen to know where that is.

what i was gettin at is you can still ride jetskis in lakes in summer, that isnt the case at most any beach close to shore other than the tona zone. At a lake people just have to book early and not wait to the last min. What are these rides, how long have they been going on,how many riders attend. There are only 2 surf events on the east coast, they have to be timed very strategic. We would love to see some more surf rides put on,and are working on helping another up north take place. It would be very difficult to space every ride including lake stuff evenly, there are just so many lake rides.

Ah, ok. See, in the Pacific Northwest, it doesn't matter. You can show up to the beach during summer and won't inconvenience anyone.

:soapbox:there you go again Toressa ! When have you and your ski ever been ran out of any place in Florida during summertime?

PS. and here is some logic: most beaches are "close to shore", if you think about it really hard. :scratchchin:

Straight up Torr: it is rare your location receives decent surf; you know it, I know it, all of the Junkies know it, and then many others know it as well. If you had decent surf, a larger percentage of riders would have travelled during the month of October for the previous events.

So, it seems logical that if you wish to fulfill your strong desire of drawing a large group of standup riders to your locale, you would easily fare much better with a flatwater event during warm weather (ie. racing, freestyle clinics, etc.). This would then allow places that actually do receive decent surf on a regular basis to organize a large freeride that you can travel to and enjoy in return, as could all others.
