did it with a 61x/61x single stock 44 yesterday.

B pipe, MSD enhancer, flow control and ADA head. 6 foot wave though.
Ski was breaking up and running on one cylinder intermittently too beacuse of a bad plug.

Reviving this thread.... The dilemma, go for a new 12 SJ or just save money and go for an AM turn key hull in the next year or two??? Pertaining to this thread mainly b/c of the 'is a SJ backflippable'. If i drop 8k on a new one, then 2/3k on mods, and still need a big as s boat wave and lots of skill, is it worth it? Or drop 15+ on an AM that'll rip out of the water. Obviously a 6-10k increase in price.

yes you will still need surf or a big wake to flip a new SJ with mods

if you want to turn key a flat water backflip just write a big check.

Haha, easier said then done. Well actually its pretty easy to just write a check, the hard part is having funds that its guaranteeing haha.

2-3k in mods away isn't going to flip a SJ unless you're talking surf or a good v-wake

Even if tou have the big check tou still need to nuts to want to break it and skills to do so. Buy what you can afford and ride it. Forget about the bf until you develop your own ride style and enjoy the sport enough to throw good money away.

Hang on buy the expensive ski. Hate it and sell it to me for a good price :)

^^^^haha, perfect i shall do that
Thats the thing though, i enjoy it and have been at it for 4+ years already (not including as a kid on the ole js550s). Would love someone that has been through this exact decision to give me some input. Regrets either way? I'm not exactly trying to enter freestyle competition or anything, just want to throw down at the lakes (dont make it to the coast).

Also keep this in mind..You cant buy talent !

Not 100% true.

You can practice for years and waste a lot of money on broken parts learning. I have many $$$$$ replacement bills from trying to learn flips. Now that I know how to do em I can't believe I didn't learn them way earlier.

The bigger the check you can write the less talent/balls you need.

But you still need both a big check and talent/balls to flat water backflip.
