So I'm looking through the parts microfish on DGY and noticed that thier is no mention of nose foam, as if it wasn't even part of the ski. Did I miss something or does Yamaha simply not sell replacement nose foam?

Hmmm, crazy. I just dug through all the fiche over at Riva, same thing. Maybe call up a dealer and see if he can play fetch for you?

I've actually been curious on some alternatives to stock nose foam. We know polystyrene will turn to napalm with gas, and 2 part eventually soaks up water. Maybe pack it full of pool noodles? Those break down eventually, but last long enough.

*EDIT* Also, you might be able to make the nose foam work from a 750 or SXR with a little trimming. Those are still available. Seems like they are about $70 new. Maybe a big chunk from a couch trimmed to fit, if all else fails?

I've made my own with 2-part foam. It works, but won't last forever. Pool noodles do work well, and you can cram a lot in the nose.

John, I have an extra one here if you need it. I also have a ski cart as well...

Kevin I thought you left for AU already? Either way I'll take it. I know there are other options but I really have my heart set on finding the same foam the OEM's use in the nose. As off now, looks like I'll have to scavenge foam from where ever I can. Before I hit up the junk yards, I need a list of skis which have nose foam or Hull foam thats the same as the nose foam!

I've been thinking about trying something out. I want to use something like 12oz biax, or lighter (or for the guys that can infuse something lighter do that) and put it out on a thin sheet of stainless, wet it out and squeegee it out the best I can. Let it cure. Measure where the waterbox ends, where the foam would be next to the tank and mark it all around. Take the piece of glass and sand it and shape it in to that place like a wall, glass it in so it's basically an air tight cavity. Then put a small stainless screw in the lowest spot and use it for a drain when needed. As we all know nothing is totally leak free. It'd be an air filled cavity.

Should be pretty light and get the job done. It'd work on any hull... If a direct foam replacement is available, that's the ticket. Thoughts?

It could your Eminence. Depends.

I really don't want to swamp my motor to find the tipping point and I sure as hell don't want to find out I needed just a bit more foam by losing my expensive as hell ski.
