Can't get impeller seal in

Trying to finally finish this pump rebuild, and I can't get the new impeller seal to fit into the impeller.

I was going to try using a screwdriver to push the little lip inside the impeller, but I worry about tearing it.

I seem to have the opposite problem. Once I get them in I cant seem to get them to stay there and they come out 10 minutes into riding and usually cause cavitation.
Grease helps and maybe heat up the seal a bit just to make it more pliable.

silly question, but is the impeller threaded ALL THE WAY onto the shaft....


I beat my head against a wall one night due to 1-2 turns of the impeller that still needed to fully seat

I dont think that makes a difference in his problem. If I understand correctly he is trying to get the rubber nose seal into the prop.

Finally got it. I had to go around in circles applying over 50lbs of force to gradually squeeze it in.

At least I know that SOB isn't coming out anytime soon.
