Other carb diaphragm question

ok dumb question. pulled carbs apart and diaphrams were stuck to the cover and when i pulled them loose it removed some rubber so they now have the pinhole (can see light through them) syndrome. i was told nail polish will not break down in gas (not sure if that is true) so i was wondering if you painted over the pinhole area with nail polish on both sides could you effectively reseal it and re-use it. i know they arent that expensive but in a pinch would that work?

i would just try it and see but really dont like taking carbs on and off so i would rather know if it would work before installing them.

if i'm stupid, please be kind in telling me so. and if not nail polish, would anything work to re-establish the airtight seal?

thanks

you know how to re-use a rubber?
turn it inside out and sling the fnck out of it!
get a new one!

I don't think I would ever do that even in a pinch. I think the gas on the gasket would stop the polish and anything from bonding to it. I would rather just have a spare in the toolbox or save an old one that's still in decent condition

You need a Condom Repair Kit.

Scott, there is cheap and there is stupid. Replace them even with used, but repair is a waste of time and labor!

i bet your diaphragms are "melted" from ethanol fuel.

they need to be replaced. we have new here seperatley, or complete kits ( probably a good idea). be sure to use only genuine Mikuni Brand parts.
