Carbon hood restoration

Got this super light race hood I'm restoring for a client, it's crazy how photos can hide the true condition of parts! This thing is in pretty rough shape.

Quick update, still working on this and the bodywork is going to be nearly done today. I knocked out about 50% of the pinholes a few weeks back using lightweight glaze.

Small amount of epoxy work around the hood latch area and then it will be ready for primer. Using slicksand polyester primer, which is kind of similar to gelcoat but can be sprayed through traditional paint guns.

We could have gelcoated this hood but opted not to because this is kind of a budget build.

Was asked to turn the holes on each side of the hood into scoops, so I came up with this design. Gives it a sinister look and a lifting point for the hood.

Still a lot of pin holes to deal with but that was to be expected. 3 coats of slicksand helped but had no chance at filling all of them.
