okay no one has asked it yet. How much for you to make more of them? (hoods, nosepieces, top decks, bottom decks) Or is this a one time deal?

wow. this is excactly what i have been wanting to do. were do you live in mn. i wouldnt mine making a roody to where ever you are at and help, watch, and learn a little from you.

You go with a lowered nose and hood along with lowered bracket. It lowers the center of gravity of the ski. This helps with rolls and hood tricks.
Well I will have to add up the cost of supplies and stuff. In the end this hull should weigh in around 40-50 lb range. I may decide to actually sell this one if I need the funds, In which case id probably have to sell for around $4000-$5000. From there I may build another if I have time, or depending on if I get a job here when I graduate in May, I may not have the time or space to continue, so I may just try and sell the moulds. (which is a shame because I have spent probably at least 1.5-2 grand and all last summer making these moulds)
also, with this one I did 'visual' carbon, where attention to detail had to go into the layup in the mould because it was also the exterior or surface layer of the ski, this took a lot of extra time. If I were to just do a gelcoat or epoxy primer finsih, It would be a lot easier to layup!
Yeah pm me sometime,.. when I get some free time or when it gets a bit warmer out maybe we can set something up.

Yeah that does make a lot of sense, although I suppose you can use a lowered bracket on this set up and it would achieve the same result,..maybe just not looking as nice

lowered bracket with help with handling, but it will not acheave the same setup. If you do not really plan to get into rolls and hood tricks then it is a non issue.
If you were to hop up on the hood. with a taller hood your COG is higher up, as you rock from side to side it is easier to lean to far to one side or the other. With the lower hood, you get a lower COG causing you to have better balance.

What kinda of composite background do you have?
Background? hmm well nothing too extensive,..I have done quite a bit of fiberglassing before but this project is my first with carbon. My supplier has also gave me a lot of great advice that you won't find online. I researched and talked with some professionals for a couple months before I started this. I even talked with a chemist from an epoxy company that I learned a lot from, oh and he also said that eric malone ordered his epoxy from them lol. Also some of my engineering classes helped with bits here and there.

hahaha yeah actually I think that was him, their epoxy was pretty good stuff, great company, and the chemist sure knew his chit, but I actually found some stuff that ended up working a LOT better for me; lower cps, better material properties, and best of all I can buy it locally in 5gallon buckets!

Where did you get the idea for the motor mount jig? There was talk about making such a device on here just a few weeks ago. If the hulls don't take off that jig alone could make you some money.

Thanks! Im hoping to layup the top deck as early as this weekend, but there is a slight chance it may be pushed out a week.
The motor mount jig I just kinda 'winged it'. I knew I wanted something a lot lighter and easier to work with than an engine, and this jig provides a lot of working space for setting up the motor mount plates. The plates I am using in the carbon hull I bought at just the right thickness so they are almost perfect height just sitting in the hull! I'll have to block them up maybe 1/16-1/8" in some spots. I welded it up in a stock hull so I knew it would be an exact fit to my carbon hull.
