Ok, how about this: would a SINGLE 48mm brapjack work fine (or much better in terms of brappage) with 701 with bpipe and head over 2 x 38mm (oem's)? I hear too many confusing points: on one hand that oems have great signal and response, then again taht they suck, and so on.. I have a spare 48mm brapjack ready to be used (need to get single intake mani from ATP) and looking to start working on rolls etc. Help, por favor!

oem carbs fuel signals are horrible without being modded the booster design is horrible.however if you modify the booster i have stumbled across a 25% increase on fuel signal and increasing the flow rate thrue the venturi.this made me drop 4jetsizes in the main creating a smaller fuel droplet making them more responsive
How did you modify your inner venturi; did you dog leg the booster or replace it completely?

I agree that the inner venturi booster design could be improved on the stock Mikuni's but most A/M carbs actually reduce the carb signals and increase the cfm.

Out of sheer curiosity, how did you arrive at the 25% figure?

Straight from the man himself

" as long as they both have the same thread pitch on the low screws and the same number of off idle transition holes they will work."

I'm looking to step up to a big bore and some porting this winter. I knew my 38's were not going to cut it. Looks like I might be getting some some brapjacks...Still have to verify a few things first though.

I'm torn between jetworks and xmetal... the only downside for xmetal is shipping my motor back and forth across the country...jetworks is a little closer. But having an xmetal stock stroke 827 package would be a sweet setup to have. :Banane09:

Decisions decisions...

The only way to make an informed decision is to ignore internet hype from either side and try both setups. I cannot offer you an XMetal setup to try, but you are sure welcome to try my Jetworks setup and see what you think. :veryhappy:

Why spend big bucks for modified 44s when there is sbn46s avaliable? Tuning a carb to match a particular setup by changing the venturi size is one thing. An expensive prepackaged "modified" Mikuni is nothing more than a bill of goods in many cases. Ive ridden too many boats with $1000 carbs that ran little if any better than well tuned OEM 44s.

The price quote I got from art was well under $1000. If I already have the carbs and they need rebuilt anyways why not?

It doesn't matter anyways the thread pitch is different on both carbs so I cant turn them into dual brapjacks...maybe singles but no duals. Damn!

If you have a grand burning a hole in your pocket, I'd go with a set of Novi-tec freestyle carbs.
