Carburetor energy ports

That's interesting, so they definitely are doing something more than just drilling holes in the mounting flange. I'm wishing I had an SBN handy to take apart and try to figure out what the deal is with that extra jet.

Maybe it creates an additional circuit so you can tune the progression holes, or some portion of the progression holes, separately from the normal low speed jet and screw. I could see that being potentially useful maybe (?) Still no magic about "fuel vaporization" involved, but could actually do something useful maybe.

That jet is connecting this chamber to....something. Who knows where. It appears to be coming from the same chamber as the high speed jet though, on the same side of the check valve, so it would be weird for that to be going to the "low speed" side of the carb in the progression holes like I originally guessed, so...I dunno. Magic. It definitely looks like they are doing some sort of re-arranging of the carb circuits anyway.

Those 'ports' are on the Spigot/outlet side of the carb to dampen the reversion pulse coming back off the reeds when they close. A stock carb setup can add fuel to a volume of air 3 times at certain rpm - 1. Initial intake gulp of air picks up fuel from LS and HS circuits - 2. reversion pulse pushes fuel out carb picking up fuel again - 3. when the mixture comes in again through carbs, fuel is added again. Certain boosters, like the Novi, prevent fuel being taken up from HS circuit on the on stage 2 reversion pulse

I’m the owner of the setup. I was just informed of this thread so I thought I’d give you guys all the information I have. I bought a clean Blaster 1 this last summer from the original owner. The people I bought it from work at a Yamaha dealer in Bozeman Montana. When they bought the ski new back in 94’ they put a pipe on it, did a mild port job, and had this intake/carb work done. Impeller, scoop grate, ride plate etc. It was the wife’s boat to race local and club races. The boat was super clean for being 22 years old. I Let my wife ride it the rest of the summer. It was a good running ski. I pulled the the motor out this winter to do a triple conversion. I put the setup up for sale here on the X. i don’t know if anyone saw it. Here is the link.

I read previous in the thread someone was talking about the carb being spigot mounted. The top of the curb is also attached to the head so I feel it’s pretty secure. Here is a pic
