Carpet bunks or PVC ?

About to start a new trailer build and I keep going back and forth in my mind as to which would be the best method.

so..here I am throwing it out to the X..pvc vs carpet bunks....survey says????

the obvious cons to carpet is they hold sand, dirt, salt and they need replacement.

dont really know the cons of pvc bunks.. and would you recomment 2" or 3" pcv?

thanks for the input

Wilkey my thoughts as well, was wondering why you would carpet a pvc pipe..if there is no fittings it wont scratch...otherwise you're right back to the carpet collecting sand, salt dirt etc and needing replacement.

For those of you running the pvc bunks, how long have you been doing it? I am thinking without the carpet they would sun rot and become brittle.

i have been since about march.....i have a buddy thats been running them for 5+ years..no carpet

Are these are the sch 40 strength ones you get from home depot?

Also do you think I could hang them off the back of the trailer 4-8 inches?

If you are worried about the pipe flexing or breaking, you can trim the edges off a 2x4 and slide it inside the pipe for reinforcement before you bolt it down. I did that on my 3 place trailer and it worked out pretty good. The standups didn't weigh enough to bend the pipe but the Seadoo did.

Been running pvc for 4 years, works fine. I dont run carpet and the pvc does mark up the bottom of my ski, but can be polished off, my ski also marks up the pvc, I guess you could say they trade paint. I prefer cell core pvc, seems to hold up just as good, marks up the ski less and is waay cheaper.

My buddy has been running pvc on his trailer for over 15 years with no problem.

Im pretty sure that there is a trailer thread on here somewhere with pics? But can some of you guys throw up pics of your bunks and how they are set up please.

Im about to redo a trailer and need some ideas. Its setup for two couches right now. I am hoping to be able to fit a Blaster, my round nose and my chan all on it with out them touching each other.
