Other Cases porting

Hi,
I search informations, guys with experience, on how to port cases.
I suppose the way we choose to port intake will affect torque or power.
My goal is to win torque.
I've ported by myself cases for my stroker +8mm, I think my engine works great but I haven't other similar setup to compare with. A possibility is to port 2 or 3 cases to test but I don't want to part out my engine many times.

Now I'm going to build my 2nd stroker +8mm and I wish I can have informations (and pics) on how to do or not to do in order to favor torque.

Another question, what do you use to fill cases before port and trench ? On my first engine I've used epoxy resin with aluminium powder, it works great since I've built my engine last year but I'm wondering if it's the best way ????

Thanks

Sorry, i'm french and my english isn't perfect

i waould say yes, there are different methods to porting cases. i believe for one, it would be way to lengthy to try to post up how to port cases for maximum torque.

i know alot of people will use jb weld or equivilent.

hope that helps

In all that I have learned with porting work on 4 strokes, experience is key. You may gain some but for the few hundered dollars if costs to have tyour cases ported, IMO its not worth it to do it yourself. Other than bragging rights :)

I would use the Devcon liquid aluminum before the putty because it can be poured in the cases easier. Just remember to install your lower case bolts with some Teflon tape so the epoxy doesn't go through the holes and fill it higher than it needs to be because the stuff shrinks as it dries. Also you might want an experienced engine builder to do your cases if you're going to use a 8mm+ stroker because you'll need to use a reinforcement plate along with extensive epoxy work and machining.

Thanks for the answer.
I've built my 8mm+ stroker by myself 1 year ago (with reinforcement plate, a friend trenched my cases but I did all the porting job), the engine still works very well but this time I want to be sure using the best product and the best porting to buid my 2nd engine.

I have found JBweld very good but expensive if you intend on heavy porting (x-screem style etc) as you dont get much out of a tube you would be suprised, like ZERO said you want something that can be poured in the cases easier.

The only problem with JB-Weld is that it's a very thick consistency almost like putty which makes filling the cases more difficult. Also if it ever get exposed to fuel for a long period of time it will become very soft from my experience using it. Devcon aluminum liquid seems to be far superior in my opinion and doesn't have any of these problems.

Doesnt Devcon shrink though?
