Cavitation question Kawi 750SS 2-Seater

Is there anything besides a worn impeller/wear ring that causes cavitation? Just replaced a pump on a Kawi 750SS 2 seater because it cavitated like crazy. Put in different pump, same result if not worse. UGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH thanks

Check the midshaft bearing/ try taking it off and resealing it with silicone.

It was actually in pretty good shape. Then again it is like 30 years old....

It's likely compressed to a point where after disturbing it the sealing ability is gone.

Common issue on those is the plastic pump shoe. They will break right where it meets the pump. Or crack off to one side. Sometimes they are completely loose! Get it off the ski, fill the voids in with foam except 1/4". Then top it with epoxy resin and shape it. I've never had any return issues fixing them in that fashion.

I agree on the compressed trim seal , I have had to back them up with sealant before to get them to seal.
