Cavitation

Hey guys. I am almost finished my build and i took my ski out today. It cavitates really really bad at low speeds. SO bad i can barely get up to speed to get it to stop. I realized im missing the seal between the pump and the body. Im assuming thats whats causing all this right? Im leaving for vaca with it tomorrow to go to maryland. If anyone is from maryland near chesepeake bay and has a spare one PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I need one bad. Im on a house right next to the bay bridge.

sorry man, its funny that you tried to run without it, how did you loose it? maybe call a yamaha dealer now that is close to your holiday destination and hopefully they could order you one in and pick it up a couple days into your holiday.

Almost any Yamaha dealer will have one in stock because it's common to many different boats. If you can't find one, remove the pump, leaving the wear ring bolted in and silicone it just as you would with old kawi skis and you'll be fine. Many of the factory race teams didn't even use the seal because it was one more place to leak. When they changed props they only removed they stator section of the pump so they wouldn't break the glued in wear ring.
