Cavitation

So I moved my pump back to the stock location ( I had it set back 2") and I now get this weird cavitation thing happening. Everyonce in a while...actually it's only happened 3 times in 2 rides it'll get air in the pump. I slow right down and still it will not pull water to the point I fall off and have to restart. Then It's fine. WTF!!! I'm running an R&D pump stuffer, SXR prop and a Jet Dynamics toploader.
Any ideas.

make sure your bolts are tight and not broken on your pump nozzle. i lost 1 bolt and broke the plastic on another and had no thrust at all like you described. it was pushing the nozzle away from the pump and loosing all pressure out the side

It happened again yesterday but only once in about an hour of riding.

Are you riding in shallow water we will have that type of problem and it is usually lilly pad stem's we are sucking up from the bottom.

Still is doing it but not really a big deal as it is so infrequent.
My engine spins up real fast with the SXR prop. I'm wondering if even the slightest bit of air causes the cavitation to start and the free running prop just won't let water back in.

hey doug i know you have done this many times maybe you missed a spot with silicone, the first time i did the x2 pump i did not do it with enough silicone even thou i thought it was good, re did silicone with really good silicone and morre of it and no more problems

Do you have rear exhaust? That was the problem on my 300sx,you did have to cut it off and restart to get it to go again,I just moved the exhaust tube to go all the way out the back.problem solved.

Hey cattledog...I don't think it's my silicone seal or I would expect that it would do it all the time. I will have a look at it just in case.

Yeah that could be what is going on. I know our xp will slide out on you when turning real hard and then it just freewheel mode for about two second's, then it will hook up again and go .
