I have a 789cc motor in my EME, with a size 12 everstart (ewww Walmart brand I know)
Battery in it
The motor has about 200 pounds of compression in each cylinder
The battery only has 150cca compared to a stock 300cca
I was told 120cca was enough but it seems like my motor only half ass turns over
Maybe it's a loose connection or ground wire issue, a bad relay, or my rectifier is bad

Or maybe it's just not enough CCA

Thoughts??

A dekaetx9 120cca turned over my 865cc 8 mil Lamey at 200 psi. It couldn't crank it for long though. The engine starts right away though, if it didn't it would run the battery down quick! If I needed to crank for any longer than a normal couple 3 start attempts, I'd put a jumper on it to not run my battery down while I worked on it.

A lot can effect cranking, advanced timing, high current draw starter, internally corroded cables, grounds, water getting in cylinder, over heating, internal high resistance of your starter relay.

A 5 mil 820 I did would interminably half Azz crank, ended up being the battery and a neg battery cable, stumbled on the cable by accident when I touched it after examining the cranking and found it hot to the touch... But it still needed a battery.. I put a 320 or 330cca in it but it weights 16 pounds, the owners on a tight budget.

This member has a small case format 330 fir $170. I ran one on a charging system and it worked fine

My EME hull is extremely tight so the size has to be relatively small
My motor also cranks about half as hard as is should three times
And it drains my battery hard
It starts on the normal but the positive cable seemed to get a bit warm
Could be a bad connection to starter post
Not sure if my rectifier even works, have to test it.
Thanks for the imput though dude, I'll check that link

What ignition are you running? I'm assuming stock? My old analog totalloss would kill battery's because it had no start retard and I was running 32* of timing.
Lol, don't worry I figured it out

Got pissy and pulled the entire engine out only to find my negative wire was basically snapped in half mid way.
Fml.
