For the last few years either Ross or the O'side crew have sponsored a Free ride here. Estero Beach is probably the most perfect "Made for Jet skiing" spot I've ever been too. It's a Super secure gated resort, that sits next to a huge estuary right on the Ocean. It's a perfect destination for both flat water and surf riders. Estero gets solid surf this time of year so the surf riding is usually insane! And, if you're not into the waves, then the Estuary is about 5-6 miles across so it's perfect for everything flat like setting up buoys for racing or FW Freestylers or just cruising around on a couch. The Hotel has a large pool with 2 oversize, Jacuzzis. Nothing sooths tired bones like dropping in a steaming hot Jacuzzi after burning 15 gallons of gas riding your brains out. The whole place is neat and clean. The rooms are nice and the on-site restaurant has really good food at reasonable prices. It's Safe for the whole family too, I brought my wife and kids last year. I know this sounding like a vacation promotion brochure buts its really true. Here's some pics my wife took from last years trip, all are within the Secure Compound

Estero Beach Hotel

Hotel Pool with surf in back ground

Beautiful, deserted beach

Perfect beach to store your ski with the Estuary in the background

The paved launch ramp with the surf in the back ground

Best food on the Planet

Safe for the whole Family

This looks like a fun trip! I am going to book in the next couple of days. Is anyone leaving SD Saturday morning? I haven't been to Esterro before so it would be good to caravan with some peeps. What's the Medical Pass mentioned above all about?
Cheers

some put skis on their trailer, some keep them locked together on the beach. medical pass is a trade secret. it will be talked about at the event. Its to skip the 3-6 hour border line wait on sunday. i think we waited 15 minute, while some were 3-6 hours last year.

I think John and I are going to do a little pre run down there next week to scout out the road situation. Great pics John!

And there should be quite a few headed down on Sat AM, my wife and a few of her friends included. If people want to caravan down, let me know and I will do what I can to put everyone together.

Rosco, I think you are riding this weekend right? I'll see you at the ramp this sat at 8 and we can sort out details.

Hey Ross C, sounds good, I'll be riding tomorrow morning for sure. I just sent a booking request for Sat night, can't wait! What do I need to bring for paperwork for the ski's? Do they have to be in my name?

How is crossing the boarder with the skis? They make you strip them down on the way in or back out?

Piece of cake- You just have to show your valid registration (Proof of ownership) when entering Mexico. Ironically when coming back into the states they usually don't even ask you about your skis

If I wasn't already committed to racing the Mark Hahn 300 I'd totally go. Isn't this ride usually in April? Or can we organize another one in April? I'd really like to go. Mexico and Pismo are about the same distance from Las Vegas, Mexico just sounds like a better venue.

In the past, depending on which O'side crew rider is sponsoring the event, we've had the Estero Beach Free ride in either Feb or April. This year since Ross is having his Champion Timepieces Launch party we are supporting him for a February date. Having another April event is unlikely as it would hit a lot of us in the pocket book a little hard, and those that can afford two trips can easily go to the Pismo Spring break ride. Unfortunately it's impossible to accompany everyone's schedule when planning an event like this.

Joey, if your race plans fall through then by all means join us, you have a golden invitation.

TOLL ROAD PARTIAL CLOSURE

So Ross and I made a Pre run down to Mexico yesterday to scope out the road situation. The Northern half of the toll Road from TJ to south of Rosarito is still open, however the southern half of the Toll road from La Fonda to Ensenada is still closed so they are diverting traffic to the inland route. Despite this, the trip was a piece of cake. Just take the toll Road from TJ like you normally would and go as far as you can. Then follow the road diversion at the point the toll road is closed. The inland route is a good road that is well traveled and not confusing. The inland route drops you off right where the toll road ends at San Miguel right about where the 3rd toll booth is. From there just continue onto Estero like you normally would. The diversion is well marked and is a no brainer.

Medical Pass Update;

The best way to avoid the long lines at the Border when returning to the US, is to get a Medical Pass. A Medical pass allows you to enter the US via a lane set apart exclusively for Medical Pass holders. The wait to enter the US in the Medical Pass line is usually less than 1 hr. This is a must, as the lines on the weekend to enter the US can be up to 5 hrs long so. Medical Passes are available at ANY pharmacy (Farmacia). This is how it works. You must get the medical pass from the Pharmacist while he's on duty which is usually between 9am to 3pm. You get the Medical Pass by simply walking into any Farmacia and asking for one. If you have a prescription to fill (None of us do) they are free. Since we're a bunch of dumb Gringos they will sell you one, usually for around $20. Individual Farmacias have different Policies on this, they may simply charge you $20 for the Pass or allow you to buy $20 of merchandise, like drinks, chips and other munchies and then include the pass for free. The passes are only good for 24 hrs so it's best to get it on the day you plan to leave.
