Custom/Hybrid Changeover from an SXR hull to a bob hull

Hey all,

I am going from a 2011 Kawasaki SXR hull to a Gen 2 bob hull. Anyone have any experience doing it? Before, During, and After?? Its an expensive upgrade but I think I will be happy with it.

is it going to be sxr based. i talked with a guy at daytona thats running kawi based and loves it. Im yami based though so far after riding the first couple times pretty happy with it.

The hulls are 100% different from eachother. It will take a little bit to get used to the BOB and the way it rides compared to your sxr, but you will have a blast.

Have you ever ridden a BOB?

Bobob, It will be all SXR besides my X-Metal Pole, blowsion steering and some parts I have to buy for the gen 2 which includes a SJ waterbox and a few other brackets. I haven't rode one yet Smitty, but I know a bud that has a Gen 3 SJ Bob and he loves it. I can't do much more tricks with the Stock SXR because of its weight, that is why I am going this route.

you will love it i just got mine running and took to daytona definitely was well worth it. though it still is taking some time to adjust from the sj. it definitely will be worth it

nope everything on mine bolted right up i had to fix some stripped insterts but I bought mine used. other than that everything went in well and lined up great. I didnt even need to shim motor. Though i did have to ship pump and grind the holes in the back of my pump to line driveshaft up but over all took a couple days to get everything finished.

Thats not too bad and good to know. I will be doing it all myself but I do have all the time in the world because I can't even see unfrozen water until may ha ha.

What will I need to use my Kawasaki Power train on a Kawi-BOB Hull?
-750/ 800 Pump will work
-Kawi-BOBs are set up to use the SXR Intake Grates.
-You will also need a Aftermarket or Stock Super Jet (96'-'12) Handle Pole, Handle Pole Bracket and Chin pad.
-750sx Drive shaft.
-You will also need to make a bracket to mount your e-box to the bulkhead.

If you guys have any questions regarding a BOB build, feel free to send me a PM and I will help you out the best I can!

Ssmsxr I'm looking at around 5g abouts after shipping. Hey dk freestyle I've been chatting with dk Senior for the past month or so about purchasing this bad boy ha ha. How much mods do you have done to your machine? My goal is to hopefully back flip by the end of the year. I guess it's depending on on how much more mods I have to do haha.

well,i guess to answer this ,the SXR motor in stock form is probably not going to be able to get it done( in my opinion ) without some of the right mods . i think the biggest thing to overcome and pay attention to in your build , is e box mounting ,its a tight fit using the stock box.the rest of the assembly is pretty straight forward .you will be happy ! its a great platform ,and should be able to bring your boat up to speed with mostly bolt on parts even make it flip capable.but as many on here will agree to , if your after that flatwater flip practice practice practice and get ready to shell out some $$$$$$$ . i tried to take what i have learned on what works and doesn't for the SXR and came up with this simple recipe :FP wet pipe , TBM flywheel, advent ignition, head with mild compression,v-force 3 reeds, key player is a solas pump, 13/17 scat trak cut back prop (note a simple list doesn't = cheap). these are just suggestions or food for thought .but one things for sure ,you need to improve the SXR stock low end to flat water backflip , the rest would be up to you .even if you do a little at a time you will be having a blast for sure ! pm me if you have any questions i will try to help as much as possible .

That's some great information rubbertoe! Thank you. I guess I'm wondering now if getting a new hull is the best place to start or if I should just invest it more on engine mods first. I'm still thinking the best initial bang for my buck will be getting it as light as possible, well, within reason of course lol. What do you guys figure?

hull first....if i were to start all over, the first mod would be an aftermarket hull

here is my old Q8 hull with a stock sxr motor (w/ wet pipe), stock pump, carbs, head, electronics, etc

high speeds its hard to control when you let off but still can get going pretty fast just cant stay in full throttle. Iit depends on where ur leaning on the ski if your up front then it rides nose down if your back further a little bouncy

not like an sxi pro ,sxi is also a race oriented design .BOB is designed more for freestyle type riding , you can still operate at speed but it will take more effort for sure.are you going to do a build ?
