changes for 2011 Daytona Freeride READ THIS!!!!!

there will be a few changes this year:

  • permitted area will be open from Thursday-Sunday, standard jet ski zone will be open and will operate normally as per Beach Patrol rules.
  • Volusia County Jet ski zone will be North of Permitted event jet ski area and will accommodate early arrivals.
  • All riders that register for the event will not be checked or inspected at all. There will be a flat rate (tbd) that you will pay and your ski will not need to be legal at all. So things like no numbers, no reg, will be perfectly ok.
  • note: if you arrive early and plan on riding on lets say Monday, you will be required to have all applicable state registrations and up to date as well.
  • all boats brought onto the beach permitted event riding area will be registered (thurs-sun). No more bringing 3 boats, registering one and riding all three. All boats will be registered to ride. If you do not plan on riding it, leave it in the parking lot or at home.
  • for people coming early you will have the option of registering with beach patrol and riding the "jet ski zone" up until the event starts then you will need to register w/ me to ride in the permitted area if you choose to continue riding. Anyone arriving from thursday on can just register for the permitted area
  • I will be selling registrations online (tbd) for the permitted event area.

these changes were brought up by beach patrol to ensure safety and control over the riding and the areas to ride.

more will come so check back when you see any updatse and please tell people about this thread so I don't have to explain it 1000 times.
Thanks - Nick

damn.. I as looking forward to playing "pass the fire extinguisher" again.

Nice work, makes a lot more sense.

triple secret probation
question - for the riders that fly in and "bum skis" all weekend - will they need to register as well even though they will be on a borrowed ski?

IOW - each rider is registered/permitted (and pays a fee), not each ski. Correct?

This will change things up a bit but for the better, I hope.

We still get to play hot potato with the extinguisher if you want to ride before or after.

I think that sounds easier. Just pay the fee and on you go. No having to have the guy try and read my vin numbers. He couldn't even see them last year. I had to read them to him to write down anyhow.

Let us know what the fee is when it is determined please. Thinking about bringing both my skis this year.

Daytona Freeride Registration:

  • $25.00 = 1 ski, 1 person
for $25.00 you will have access to a 4,000 ft riding zone behind The Makai Beach Club and will recieve 1 sticker for the ski you will be riding.

  • $10.00 = 1 person
for $10.00 you will have access to the 4,000 ft riding zone behind The Makai Beach Club (this is for people who are borrowing skis and have not brought their own personal ski.)

  • $10.00 = aditional skis
for every aditional ski you bring example: if you bring 3 skis and yourself the total would be $25.00 for the person and the first ski, then an aditional $10.00per ski, so that would come to $45.00 total.

person, ski 1 $25.00 + 2nd ski $10.00, 3rd ski = $10.00 = $45.00

you will be able to register online through paypal: yamaslut@gmail.com
(please send as a gift or add an aditional 3% for transaction fees)
or
you can register w/ me on the beach when you arrive. I will have an area marked off so you will be able to find myself or the freeride person on duty.

Very Important:

You will have to bring your printed reciept of the paypal transaction so I can then issue you your riding sticker if you choose to register online.

For those of us who show up early to ride with boats with out HIN's and/or registration numbers, will we still be allowed to ride hassle free before the event start date?

So anything planned for this event nick? will there be another beach party/bonfire like last year?
