these are all odd sizes. There are 50mm riser MTB bars for 20 bucks.... But they are like 1 1/4 or 1 inch.
Its not the weight of the ski/dirt bike/snow machine/bike that matters it what is holding onto the bars. If you have a 50lb kid yank a back flip on a ski how much force would that create on the bars? Compared to a 400lb man yanking a back flip on the same ski.
Not sure they came with the ski. If i were to guess I would say they were old Riva bars. Just because of the riva grips and the other riva parts that came with the ski. I did it doin a sub of all things too...
bike forks are sometimes carbon fiber and there is way more stress on a bike fork than handle bars.
Carbon bars would be less ridged for sure. I bet would flex way before they broke. Similar but not near as extreme as carbon fishing rods.
Bike forks are designed to withstand front to back forces. Hense the "Blade" shape of the forks.... And these are mainly on road bikes. Niner, Bontrager and a few others build/build MTB rigid forks. And they are built and tested. They are not round bars. Trust us when we say forget about it. cannot compaire with fishing rods, they are meant to bend. People have tried using them, most fail!
Ive broke 5 sets of bars in the past. Many UMI and last one was a Xmetal straight bar. I now use left over 4130 chromoly tubing from making tie rods on 800+ HP sand rails... lol I filled it with epoxy resin, sanded and painted with it automotive single stage. These wont be breaking anytime soon, but they do weigh a few lbs. I got tired of breaking bars and getting injured.
You can see in the pics the chromoly tubing sitting next to the UMI and X-metal straight bars(broken).
I do want to try riser bars and not sure which to get that will not break on me. Any suggestions?
Imo, i would not run supernova bars on anything. I have had a good go with my easton mtb bars, i would/have considered running the easton carbon fiber bars. They have been used my downhill mtb racers for a long time already. They arent cheap tho...$140+
