Other Cheap waterproof HD vid cam

Big Lots has this waterproof HD camera on sale from 7/24-7/30 for only $40! I might pick one up just to have a spare.

I have had this other larger model Kodak waterproof vid cam for over a year already and have had it pools, ocean, rafting, etc. I have tucked it into my wetsuit jacket or tether it to your lifejacket straps. http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsus/en_US/pd/PLAYSPORT_Video_Camera__Zx3/productID.169976100

Both are rated for 10ft, so not for diving, but good for jetskiing and boating.
Mine takes pics pics also, so I'd imagine this smaller one does also.

Nice find, we should all get one and take turns filming each other. I'll go first since I seem to need to rest more than the rest of you.

I looked up the ATC site earlier this week and was checking out the HD 1080p ATC9K. It has the same tubular design as the old ATC's so it can be clamped much more securely like we do now to our helmets pkus it has a video screen.

Amazon has the ATC5k onsale for right now for $76.38 its not HD but I don't see the difference in surf anyways

Looks like the one you linked is the sd version. Even comes with a sd card.

I would stay away from the atc stuff. The waterproofing on the sd version was very suspect.

I wonder how those handle movement and vibration. After seeing the videos from the original ATC cameras, I wouldn't pay $5 for one of those because the videos bounce so much you can't tell what's going on.

All helmet cam footage pretty much sucks as far as the cam movement. This is good for stopping and shooting footage of someone. I was thinking of how footage would look with one of the chest mounts.....

Well I can watch gopro videos just fine. I have a Gopro wide and I consider it good by comparison. It's not a movie theatre but it doesn't make me sick either. Here is a perfect example of ATC video that I'm talking about from the ATC2k. Every video gives me motion sickness. I can watch them for about a minute or two before I literally start feeling queezy.

Andy, (WAB) had his little camera out this weekend. Haven't seen any footage from it yet but it sure was compact and easy to use.

I bought two of them, one for me, one for the wife so she can use with the baby. For 80 bucks, it was worth it. The video quality isn't movie quality by any means, but for 40 bucks, this thing is really cool. Having the USB built in is a plus, too.

I have a friend who has that camera. Its a decent camera for the price.

The only big issue I find with it is it lacks good image stabilization that the GoPro camera has.... but its also 1/5 the price

Just buy a standard lens for your gopro if you want to film other people

I got one of these yesterday. The software is very basic and makes it very simple to download and transfer videos. Hope to do a water test within the week, will post some sample video.

I picked up one of these and had it out with the ski's yesterday. It is a little hard to hold, but besides that no complaints! I took 2 sample videos and i'll get them uploaded. The play-back on the camera itself was a bit disappointing looking, but on my computer its not too bad! I'll get them up tonight or tomorrow.
