Consider buying an SXR coil. Same part as the SJ coil, much cheaper.

But, you'll need terminals and boots.

Well the issue is that the ski breaks up after riding for a bit. It usually takes about 1/8 thank of gas for the issue to surface. It feels like the revlimiter is kicking in when you smash the throttle. The ski runs fine when brought to high RPM slowly. Carbs are in tune. I was starting to have this problem at the end of last season but thought it to be due to detionation loosining my spark plugs. Since then I have switched out my stator / flywheel with a 62t (Was using 61X) Therefore, I am going to rule out the stator. I have not heard any complaints from the person I traded with as well. I was running an MSD coil wiht people said was most likely the problem. I since swapped that out with a stock coil (Unknown Condition) and the issue remained. I tried swapping in a stock CDI instead of the MSD Enhancer and the issue is the worst it has been. Therefore, I feel its the coil. If people have other suggestions any input is apprecieated.

My ski was having a similiar problem. i was running a msd coil, switched to stock and still had the same problem. It turns out i had the rev limiter turned out instead of in. Der da der.

I remember something about 95% of the time it is the plug wires........

did you cut back the plug wires at all? or strip some of the insulation away and pull on the individual strands of wires seeing if any are broken? I had a similar problem but at lower rpm's when i first bought my ski and i trimmed the wires back an inch and it fixed it. since then i had jss redo the coil and havn't looked back since.

I think i have a coil in the garage if you want to try it for this weekend. just let me know

Check your start stop switch, I was chasing a similar prob. and it ended up being the little rubber boot on the lanyard stop switch had a small tear in it and after a half hour of riding would get enough water in the switch to start making the ski run like it was on one cylinder, the switch was only 1 year old!

Before installing a bunch of parts you should check the resistance of the ignition coil and stator pulser coil.

Just use an ohm meter with the coil disconnected and measures the primary resistance across the orange and black wires; it should be between .078 to .106 ohms at 68F degrees.

Also check the secondary resistance across both spark plug high tension leads and it should be 3.5 to 4.7 ohms at 68F degrees.

To check the pulser coil on the stator just unplug the white/red wire and black ground wire; it should be between 12.6 to 15.4 ohms at 68F degrees.

You should also check the spark plug gap width and resistance if they have built in resistors and should measure less then 6000 ohms.

It's pretty common for spark plug wire ends, spark plugs and pulser coil wires & windings to go bad and if they're out of spec replace only the parts that are needed.
