Circlips

Where are circlips located? I found one on my garage floor, but don't know where it came from. The work I have done:

1) FX1 pump swap
2) took out engine, didnt take engine apart
3)midshaft removal/replacement

There's one in the midshaft to hold the bearing in place.

I have been on several rides without it then. Is it absolutely neccesary? I would be very grateful for a photo of where it goes also.

that looks like the C clip that holds the bearing in the midshaft carrier. was the midshaft assembly you replaced grenaded? those clips take some effort to remove.

so it goes inbetween the 2 bearings in the mid shaft? i have been on about 6 rides without it and nothing has happened.

Here it is

Your picture shows an internal snapring. However, unless there is some perspective distortion, it does not appear to be large enough to fit the mid shaft housing. Please, consider measuring the approximate outer diameter and I'll let you know.

Picture on left shows an aftermarket snapring for midshaft, right pic. is oem. they measure 2 1/8 - 2 3/16" (outside) diameter

I'll take a measurement later tonight, but it is definetely not 2". much smaller

Yam Superjet does not use the snapring the op pictured.

He said he did an FX-1 pump swap so maybe it's from that?

I swapped from an fx1 pump to a sj pump

I've never seen the FX-1 pump so I can't comment. The SJ pump doesn't use any circlips so I don't imagine the FX-1 does either.

Any chance it was just a random part in the bottom of a box cause it looks like an internal clip off a ball or U-joint to me.
