I agree....I HATE jogging/running and my knees can't take it anyways. I also can't just go to the gym.....it's boring and it feels like work to me. I have to do something outside or something exciting...which is why I loved zumba so much...I love to dance so I got to shake my booty while burning 800 or so calories :woot: I didn't really noticed the difference it had made until we were on the boat and on our way home....it really did tone me up.

I am the other way around. I would rather run on a cross country course then be anywhere near an unsanitary, smelly, gym full of meatheads and stale air (i am thinking of the WMU rec center). :chairshot:How you guys can packyourselves into those sardine machines everyday boggles my mind. I do live right next to a nature preserve, so maybe i am spoiled. But you won't see me ina gym unless there is more then 6 inches of pow on the ground...but i will most likely wait until they plow (they plow the sidewalks in portage 3 miles away) then hit the streets.

Good for you emm for trying to eat healthy!:Banane35: Beer is my biggest downfall as well.

I work out at home, so the only smelly meathead I have to deal with is me.

I agree....gyms gross me out....I even took my zumba class at a real dance studio so I didn't have to deal with the nastiness :fing02:

I ate my last bad meal yesterday....and after I went grocery shopping and picked up all my healthy stuff.

I am weak though...I broke down and had a cold beer last night...I couldn't help it...that Shiner Hefe was calling my name!!!! And I will probably have one or two tonight because it's my friend's birthday and we are meeting him at a nice beer bar. If I can even cut back to one night a week I would be good....it's just so dang HARD!!

YEah, I have a certain soft spot for da beers. :stups: It is somewhere between my belt and my neck...I drink a few a night regardless of what i am doing. I just can't help it...they're everywhere i go. Besides when you work in cellular you feel like holding your own head underwater and punching yourself in the face after 20 different people come in and bitc.h at you cuz their free phones don't work. I just ate a tasty burrito and it was the shiznit. Not the healthiest but I have been running before work instead of after so that helps with the guilt.

edit: ps i love your sig!

I was introduced to the "Innate Diet" by Dr James Chestnut.

"Eat well, Move Well, Think Well"

"Eat Food. Food is easy to spot, it's the stuff that doesn't have labels. I lost 43lbs last year following the diet and fitness suggestions. Not to mention how much healthier and happier I feel today.

hmmmm...I will check it out. I am always up for suggestions.

I have NOT been eating well lately...and going to Nationals just ruined everything...greasy food and lots of beer!

I am back on the diet as of tomorrow (which is when I am going grocery shopping).

I have got to get off of this dang boat and start exercising again too....I feel worthless!

In the winter I strength train. My body just responds better,as far as burning calories, through weight lifting than it does from hitting the bike or the treadmill. Which is fine with me, as I'd rather gargle razor blades than go jogging.

That's how most (almost all) people are. It's how our bodies work. Strength training not only burns the calories while you're working out, but also up to 36 hours AFTER your workout you're still burning calories at a higher rate than normal. When you jog/bike, when you're moving you're burning calories at a higher rate, but when you're done sweating and your heart goes back to standing heart rate, you're burning calories at the normal rate again.

I do some sort of strength training 3 days/week and work my abs the other 3 days a week (gotta rest The Sabbath day), and also try to do some sort of cardio mon-sat (run, bike, rollerblade).

I eat pretty healthy (I go by the self procaimed "if it tastes too good don't eat it" motto that does me well), pound protein right after a lift, and have cut back on the cocktails immensely.

All of this since college (graduated in Dec. '07) and the turn-around has been very favorable.
