Cleaning CARBS...on the outside...

These guys are NASTY, wondering whats the best route of cleaning them up and maybe paint them?

Purchase a cleaning tank for carbs at your local auto parts store.

If you are keeping them assembled, spray them down with some Gum Cutter.

If taking them apart, I use an ultrasonic cleaner.

Hey Chris, will that also remove the paint? It would be sweet if it does. I almost want to repaint mine.

Yes it removes the paint to bare aluminum.

Pretty sure the carb cleaner eats the seals too so if you go that route, you have to strip the carbs down completely...Just an FYI.

Completely taking apart a carb is about as easy as it gets.

or a small sandblasting gun will strip them clean of gunk and you can just spray paint them

all that work and you are gonna paint them black? give it a glossy blue..

Not the cheapest, but probably the easiets for you. This gets my vote.

I used this brand and had a carb soaking in it for over a week and not all of the paint came off. I am going to have to sand blast the carbs
