cleaning the pump out on a beach landed ski before flush?

After landing a ski on the beach and taking it home, ive tried hosing out the pump extensively and still get grinding when I start to flush, seems like all the wear to the ring comes from this, anyone got any method of doing this easy that works?

I think the best way is to just avoid a beach landing in the first place. I never run my ski up the beach for this very reason. When I am beach launching I always ride up to shore and stop in about a foot deep water and let the ski float until I can retreive it with the tote. The pump never has a chance to load up with sand and its easier to load up on the tote.

I agee but we have a super steep bank at one place we ride and I go out a my way to slide the ski up over the bank, and it gets about 2 gallons of sand in the pump area

I saw Cuong (2ride) load his ski onto the beach tote and then push it back into the water until the pump touches the water and start the ski on the tote. This gets most of the sand out. I've tried this method with success...

If I go to Pismo beach my normal ride spot's launch ramp is actually right on the drive home. So I'll stop by the harbor, back the trailer into the water and get all the sand out of the pump.
