Thanks again to everyone for coming out. Especially those who made the long drive @FPF @Snivilous - and had to deal with the thunderstorm overnight! @FPF

I think I counted a total of 17 stand up skis - 5 from the Denver area, 4 from Colorado Springs, 7 from Pueblo, 1 - Unknown (yellow 650SX - anybody know where he came from?) Not quite as many as I'd hoped for, but still it was a great day to meet new people and hang out. Weather Sunday was perfect, lake was shallow as promised but I think everyone had a great time anyway.

Pictures coming soon....

Looking forward to the Boyd meet-up next month.

Here is some helpful information:

Camping:
To reserve a spot go to http://www.reserveamerica.com/campi...undDetails.do?contractCode=CO&parkId=50019#sr its
$20.00 Per Night, $140.00 Per Week. It looks like most of the spots next to the water are already taken. Most spots are setup for trailer with 40 ft parking and electric hookup. All "Cottonwood Shores" is in the same general area ( I would recommend getting as close to the water as possible - as those are the nicer spots). Pets are allowed in the park and must be on a leash. It is a busy camping spot, so make sure to lock up your gear, etc.

Campground Map: http://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/boydlake/Documents/CampgroundAerialView.pdf

  • To make reservations go to the camping page or call (800) 678-2267(CAMP) OR if you live in the Denver Metro area call (303) 470-1144. Please note that camping reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance of your stay, and you must have a camping permit and a daily or annual parks pass.

Between each 2 loops there are restrooms & shower facilities available. Playgrounds, horseshoe pits, picnic tables and grills create a very family-friendly experience. A dump station is located at the top of the campground for campers only.

Boyd Location:
From I-25, take exit 257 and head west. Continue on Hwy 34/Eisenhower Blvd to Madison Ave (appx 3 miles). Turn North on Madison Ave until you reach 37th St (appx 1 mile). Make a right and head east on 37th St. This road turns into 11C which is where we are located, on the east side of the road. There are several hotels reasonably priced also located nearby (off highway 34)

Riding Area:
We will setup/ride from the "Jet-ski" beach" Please note that this is not the same location as the campground. This is also not the same location as the "main ramp". You will need to get you ski inspected for Zebra Mussels prior to dropping in. Upon entering the park you will see signs directing you to the Zebra check area (its by main ramp). After inspected you will get tagged and head to the north end of the lake for the jet-ski beach. The beach has a much nicer area for setting up, and spending the day. It has a sandy beach which is good for family's/kids. We usually setup on the east end of the ramp and this area can get very busy with other jet-skiers. You will park right next to the jet ski beach and it is very easy access to get back to your car.

Gas: Boyd marina sells ethanol free 91 octane gas. It is expensive, there are several other stations that sell 91 octane along highway 34 as well.

My condolences on moving from paradise to one of the worst states for watersports ;) but we look forward to meeting you!

^^^^ I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to say it and scare him away!!! Oh, and get some higher compression domes and a lower pitched impeller - or else your ski will run like chit here! :( Altitude is a bitch!

But welcome anyways and looking forward to meeting up!

I would definitely not say it's the worst place for watersports.....Colorado is constantly rated top place to live. I ride for much of the year here.

Worst place for two strokes due to elevation.... maybe

I just hate how all of our lakes are so tiny. You are lucky that you live near boyd. The nearest rideable lake to me is an hour drive. I mean Arizona is a desert for pete sake and they have more large bodies of water....

Welcome my friend, you may think there is something wrong with your boat up here but that's just the 25-30% less power you will have to get used to, haha, Boyd is a great riding lake especially this year cause for once its full!!
